Rain damage with hoods open???

Is anyone else wondering about the camaros in the lot waiting to be delivered with the hoods open??!! I think I read somewhere that these cars can’t start or something has to be checked on them!! Now my question is what if these cars have the hoods open and it starts to rain?? The last thing I want is my brand new camaro water logged under the hood, hell I won’t even be driving this beast in the rain!!!

Um, huh? You think a car can get rain damage from having the hood open?

Hehe, these cars and other cars made within the past 30+ years are designed to withstand a LOT of water under the hood and on the engine. They'll be perfectly fine as long as all the parts are attached and secured.

I think I see several with the trunks open in that photo, that would be a bigger concern so far as rain goes. Somehow I doubt these beauties are left sitting out there opened as they are for any extended period of time.

unless, of course, we hearken back to 93-97 F-bodies with the optispark ignition. More than one Camaro owner found himself spending 600 bucks on a new opti after washing his engine.

edit: Oh, and hi everyone. First post, long time lurker.

yea i doubt these cars hoods stay open over night...those pics they are prolly opened because people are working on them atm...i dont see why they would leave them open over night for no reason...if the techs arent done with it they'd simply close it and open it again tomorrow...

unless they were trying to make it easy for the tech to locate the cars that need the work in the endless sea of Camaro's...

They are doing inspections. Yes there is a lever you pull and this thing called a hood pops up.

Sorry but this is silly. Checking the engine is part of the inspection list. Shipping it across the land or the ocean without looking at the engine would be what?

Watch end of the movie "

They are not going to let excess water get in. The engine is also detailed at the dealer before you get it.

Hoods and trunks are closed as soon as they are done working on them -- we don't let them stay open.

Tidbit: water intrusion is one of many thousands of tests we run -- in fact, we actually blow snow into the grilles of cars and trucks for hours on end as the vehicle is driving (northern Canada) -- to the point where the underhood has huge amounts of ice build-up -- we do it because you never know when you may be behind a truck in a blinding snow storm for 12 hours!!!
