I think people are under the impression that dealers want to run efficient service departments and hire competent people to fix cars. That's not always the case. That is to say... Your car isn't probably being evaluated by someone who is capable of properly evaluating and fixing it 100% of the time.

That day it was shifting pretty bad was also the first time it started to shudder. Didn't know how to describe it until I read the TSB. It really did feel like you driving on those indentions on the shoulder of the highway to let you know you've gone off the highway, but the road was smooth. Anyway, didn't know what it was at the time so didn't mention it. Dealer checked vehicle and replaced the torque converter. All is well again and the shifts are smoother than before.

don't get us started...this is what happens when you (GM) thinks it is going to make an automatic transmission (has torque converter) act like it's a Porsche PDK. When i test tracked the the A8 at laguna early last year, it overheated in less than 3 hard laps. I knew from that point there were going to be a LOT of issues, including the torque converter (your issue most likely) one, that caused me to sell a nearly new silverado LTZ. Good luck OP, these tranny's are a complete disaster.

So with my latest trip to the dealer. I think I may have finally found a good dealer in my area. They took my car out with me and we test drove it. Most of the issues that I mentioned to them beforehand were noticed. They ended up replacing the rack and pinion assembly which was causing the clunky noise in the front end. They reprogrammed the trans and it seems to have smoothed out for now. Will see how long that lasts. The noise from the rear end seems to have gone away for now so next time it comes back its going back in. Stupid steering wheel is still crooked but, they told me to come back this Thursday to take care of that. So overall the car is acting right for now. I'm happy with it so far. I hope more problems don't come up but who knows.

So is this abrupt, delayed shift from 1 st to 2nd going to damage trans? Probably right after warranty expires. What is GM doing about this, anything, recall?
