HELP PLEASE

2010 SS RS: I love the car but the BA sound system really sucks, it's crap! I can't wait to use the speakers for Frisbee's! In my opinion, no matter how you tweak the settings voice is muffled and very low fidelity! The horn frames are made out of cheap plastic and the magnets are small. Crappy sub-woofers and weak, not crisp like they should be and they the lack power. it's a big disappointment an a waste.
The package just is not worth the money and highly overrated.
I'm looking at changing out my speakers with Polk Audio system for $700.
That's my rant.

I'd be interested in hearing about the subwoofer upgrade also. And if someone has it if they could kindly post a picture of just where it is instaled in the back and how it looks and how they think it sounds. I've ordered that as an accessory to be put in my 2SS when it comes in. I do know its ordered through parts and put in when the car comes in.

I am spolied I have the THX audio system in my MKZ, and honestly it's going to be hard to give it up when I order my camaro in April but no matter what I get unless it's another lincoln it's not going to measure up. The THX audio is the best factory audio system available this side of the 7k Bang and Olufsen Audi/Lamborghini and the Mark Levinson Lexus systems.

I have to say, the Mach 460 soundsystem I had in my 1998 Ford Mustang sounded a whole lot better to me than the Boston Acoustics Camaro system. That Mach 460 had the perfect balance between high's and lows. It included an in-dash six-disc CD changer hooked to eight speakers and two external amplifiers for a total of 460 maximum watts (230 continuous watts). A pair of 2.5-inch midrange/tweeters stare at the driver and passenger from pods mounted near the side mirrors, and a couple more reside in the shelf above the rear seats. Two 5.5-by-7.5-inch subwoofers are mounted in the door panels with another two in back with the others. Pretty impressive for 1998 and it cost less than the BA package of 2009. Also the Mach 460 had a setting which when pressed, made classical music sound more full since it balanced the softness of certain tracks with the loudness making it easy to listen to without having to lower and raise the volume. It also enhanced the instruments in general with a button called "compress". I miss having that feature. Overall, perhaps a subwoofer would help balance the sound out in the Camaro, however it could have used some smaller subs in the doors and rear so it wouldn't be needed. And just so you know, I am a musician and have written and composed orchestral scores. I do have some really good speaker systems I use in my home, and not even the Mach 460 compares to them. However I guess I had higher expectations from the BA system all things considering. I still recommend getting it above the standard system since that is probably utter crap.

I am audiophile... so let me give you an honest opinion about the BA sound system. The main thing that the BA option does is it adds an amp to the existing head unit. What this does is, it makes everything louder and with the DSP built in to the amp, a little clearer too.

The BA also gives you 9 speakers (in 7 locations) and costs less than $500. There are some car companies that charge around $800 for their crappy Bose systems... The BA system is loud... but at higher volumes it also starts to distort... Now for <$500 it is a decent deal. If you decide to go for aftermarket, you will have to pay quite a bit more for speakers and a good amp that can power it all plus install fees...

The stock system (which my rental from AVIS had) does not produce that good of a sound. The volume is very low on it, and when you crank it up, it starts to distort. It has no amp in it, so the head unit is what is supplying the power.

Again as an audiophile I like the BA system... is it the best... absolutely not! Can I live with it and still enjoy music, absolutely yes!

If you have an extra $600 u can install a Sub and get a really good sounding system!
