New Replacement Key Fob
Working on a project and i needed a new key fob because i didn't want to take apart one the originals. i ordered to brand new key switchblade fobs uncut. Took them to my dealer and had them cut and programmed (he did it in like less than a minute while i was paying the cashier). Both remotes lock, unlock, pop the trunk set off the panic even turns of the remote start but they WILL NOT turn on the remote start. This is the primary purpose of my project. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a work around? I need the remote start to work on the new remotes. Any ideas or guidance I've searched everywhere but haven't found anyone else who has experienced this issue?
Again it locks, unlocks, pops the trunk, panics, will shut off remote start if it's started by it, it just WILL NOT remote start. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Are you sure you are following the rules?
Clicking the Lock button first before remote start? (Just pressing Remote Start only will not work) And then press remote start after, holding the button for 4 seconds. And from the Owners Manual: A maximum of two remote starts, or a remote start with an extension, are allowed between ignition cycles. The vehicle's ignition must be changed to ON/RUN/START and then back to OFF before the remote start procedure can be used again. Ron |

It seems as though you are saying the 2 replacement fobs you got will not remote start the vehicle. Does the original work like it should?

I just replaced one of my fobs and it was uncut as well. I took the cut blade off the bad fob and switched it out the blank blade just by tapping out the pin on the top side of the blades.
Once I did this I got in the car and took the working fob and stuck it in the ignition and started the car, allowing it to run for about 5 seconds or so and then shut it off, immediately putting the key with the new fob into the ignition and starting the car right away. Allowed it to run for a few seconds and then shut it off. Both work fine, all functions. So are both not working with remote start? If so, I'd take it back and let them know something is amiss since their programming and have the redo it.

yes remote start is working with the older 2 switchblade key fobs, the newer fobs however will turn off the remote start if i had started it with the older ones. The new ones will do everything except start. The dealer did the programming. Car drives with old fobs. I'm working on a project and i want one of the new fobs to remote start. I do not want to use one of my older fobs for this project. Not sure what to do. Wondering if theres a max number of fobs you can have for a remote start or something else needs to be programmed.
Also just to be clear i retrofitted my car with Mylink Nav, you can still control car settings from the menu which is set properly, hoping this isn't the issue.

I have the retro fit MyLink as well. I say use one of the old fobs and put it in and start the car, run for 5 secs and shut it off and immediately stick each in after it and start it with 5 sec run time and run them all thru until all have been reprogrammed and see what you have.

yeah i tried that just now and still no luck, took out the battery and replaced it with a new and tried it. It's so weird that it can turn off a remote start but won't turn it on. Wish i could erase them and start over again. Because i retrofit Mylink i don't have a lock button so i have been locking with the old key fob. Everything on the new remotes work BUT the start.
Once i figure out how to get this fob working I'll be taking the remote apart and hooking it to my arduino device which will allow me to lock/unlock/start the car via bluetooth and voice control but until i figure how to get this remote start going I'm s.o.l. Any other solutions? p.s. i ordered the 2 remotes online, and again everything is working but the startup. The lock, the unlock, the trunk, the panic, the shutoff remote start.

TStko...At the place where I bought my fob. autotransponder.com I noticed the fobs for each year have a different part number. However, I don't think you would necessarily purchase the 2010 fob. They didn't have Mylink then. Perhaps that is the problem, you purchased the 2010 but it won't work with Mylink.?
Talk to the company you got the fobs from. I don't think going through the programming process (old fob followed by new fob) will do anything at this point since it doesn't know a new one from an old one any more. They are all equal. But then I don't think it's a programming issue either. I think it's a year compatibility issue.

Wait what?
Are you saying the inside lock buttons (doors and dash) don't work?

I'll look into that, I ordered a standard plain no model/logo gm fob. Don't you find it unusual that everything else transmits but the start even though it's not a true Chevy key?
Also I have 1 of the 1st 2010 deliveries, the lock used to be on the radio face console but I've retrofit the 2014 my link in which by that time Chevy had moved lock and unlock buttons to the doors

Did you buy a new or refurbished key? Also is your remote start working properly?

I don't think it's a GM or aftermarket thing. I think it's strictly a year thing. In the case of the company I bought mine from, each year is a different part number. Why would they go to the trouble of making different part numbers if you didn't have to. So there must be a difference in them.
I did not know the 2010's did not have door lock buttons on the inside of the doors. Our 2012 is on the doors and the radio.
