2021 Camaro said to be revolutionary and take the spot of c7 Vette performance
Interesting post over at the corvette forum. Check the last sentence or so when he mentions the 2021 Camaro.

I hope so... the 6th gen, although a step forward in the performance category, took a step back in aesthetics (at least in my book)...
Will be watching. I am planning on my next 'road toy' being a 7th gen.... |

Remember the guy way back before the Gen 5 Camaro was even out who claimed he had a fender (or something like that) in his bedroom? Nobody believed him, but it turned out to be true. I'm believing the CF guy, but mostly just because I want it to be true. |

I hope it’s a load of crap. I hate the thought of camaros and vettes being electric. Idk maybe I just need to change with the times but it’s tragic.

The author to your link has exactly 1 quote history, the one we all just read.
Having stated that, the person put a lot of time into the details, got to wonder.......but then again, Art Bell grew his radio empire with Y2K nonsense. |

Sounds like the Camaro will continue to live for future generations. I was worried about the future of the Camaro when I heard GM was discontinuing the Impala, Cruze, Volt, etc..
It makes sense to keep the Camaro. The C8 Corvette sounds like it will be more exclusive (more $$$$) with its mid-engine design. I can't imagine Chevrolet existing without an affordable front-engine, performance car.

if it is true, wait for the price to skyrocket.

I've heard the Corvette stuff elsewhere, but the Camaro stuff is new news to me. If they increased performance and maintained current prices that would help with the painful jump in price from 5th to 6th gen.

I'm in the boat that I don't want to see the Camaro take the place of the Vette
Some of the appeal of the Camaro is affordable performance, bringing it up to Vette levels likely means Vette level prices.

Agree 100% with those concerned about pricing. Camaro needs to be an affordable performance car. The top performance model can hurt the wallet but the entry level car needs to be attainable for the average person.
They can make an excellent car, it just has to look right. I'm pretty interested in what Gen 7 will look like. |

I don't believe a lot of what's in that post. I do believe that GM is going all in on EV and hybrid because whether we all want it or not, that's the way of the future for cars. They're just trying to beat everyone else to it but I hope they're not making a big mistake by ditching everything else to do it first.
There are rumors floating around that there won't even be a 7th gen Camaro and I believe those more than I believe that corvette forum post regarding the 7th gen. So many people want to believe that the C8 is going to be a $100k plus car in base trim but I just don't see that happening. The majority of Vettes sold are $60k-$75k msrp. They would be fools to completely eliminate that segment of buyers and expect them buy Camaros instead. |
