I pulled up next to a Gen 6 the other day and he was all about my 5th gen. I on the other hand was all about his 6th gen... Grass is always greener. Be happy with what you have. These cars are pretty amazing for the price paid between 5th and 6th gen.

I think the design might age well after a face-lift or two. Sure hope so.
But right now its so damn butt ugly it looks like the love child of Darth Vader and one of the Cylons. I apologize in advance... |

The gen 4’s are ugly. A gen 3, now way. The IROC’s look so good and the interior was cool even if it was cheap plastic

The Gen 4's are ugly, especially the '93-'97 Camaros, with the door stop front end. The '93-'97 Firebirds, not so much, since they did not blend the exterior mirrors into the front fenders sloping down the front end so much.
In fact, I'd dare to say the '93-'97 Firebirds are somewhat timeless looking and the WS6 style '98-'02 models look very modern even today due to their more aggressive styling. The 3rd gen is timeless. A nice looking 3rd gen looks good even today. Now, the early 3rd gen, the '82-'84 models, do look kinda dated with their "thin" ground effects, white lettered tires and small 15" wheels. The 5th gen is timeless especially the updated '14'-15 models. The Gen 6 is already dated looking in my opinion now that the predator looking restyled '19 SS's are out. However, that doesn't mean the '19's are better looking though. It's weird. The '19's are uglier, but they make the '16-'18's dated looking. |

This thread just shows once again that looks are subjective. I think the 2nd Gen was the worst of all and the 4th Gens were great looking cars. Cost notwithstanding, I’d take a 6th over a 5th even thought the 5th looks a tad better just because the interior and especially the gauges are way better on the 6th.

I too think the 2nd gen was the worst looking of all of the generations. I never was a big fan of the body style and it was a 100% change in character from the 1st gen. I also liked the 4th gen. No, it's not my favorite and I'd take a 6th gen over most 4th gen cars, but they weren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. However, I'd still to this day take my 5th gen over a 6th gen. I love the looks from outside much better (especially with the factory ground effects package) and think a 5th gen is a much of classic look that will age better. As for the interior I can see where people say they like the 6th gen better, but I personally like the 5th gen interior overall better. The 6th gen has much better technology, has heated and cooled seats, substantially better sound system, the novelty color changing scheme, etc. However, the 5th gen has SO MUCH MORE room, better center vent placement, and the retro 1st gen styling. At the end of the day I'm still not trading my 5th gen off anytime soon. Maybe adding a 6th gen to the stable eventually, but never trading the 5th gen.

Its all in the detail of the car. A car that's detailed right will not have a problem against most cars in its genre...younger or older. This doesn't include aftermarket paint, graphics, etc.
If you are set up right with a killer detail, then your car should be good. Edit: 5th generation Recaro Sport Seats

I don't believe one interior is better than the other. The 5th generation has a classic interior whereas the 6th generation has a modern interior. They're two different designs and it's a matter of preference.
Lately, the 6th generation interior is what has held me back from pulling the trigger on trading. I'm one of the few who loves the revised 2019 SS front and rear styling.

The 6th gen is dated to some because its lines are common with alot of other cars on the road. The 5 gen is classic and classy looking and will be a favourite for years.

Me personally I like the 6th gen look a lot, but there is something in the 5th gen that makes it different. Maybe it's the retro look, it looks more American lol. Plus it comes with the best powerplant ever made by GM the LS3
