Differential hmming noise?

Hi,
My 2015 camaro has 85k miles on it. I changed the differential oil last month and started to hear humming noise when I turn at low or high speed. The humming noise doesn't happen when I drive straight forward or reverse. The oil I used was 75w-90 UltraPlus GL-5 approved. But it doesn't say limited slip additive on the bottle. So, today I changed the diff. oil. This time, I used the Valvoline 75w-90 with limited slip additive but still hear the humming when I turned. I even rotated the tires but the noise is still present when I turn. Any help diagnosing this issue is appreciated.
Thanks!
Rober

that is my understanding. Manual has the 218mm diff and Autos have the 192mm. 218mm is the SS diff and is LSD.

It may take a little while for friction modifier to work it's way into the clutch packs.

Did you do any low speed figure 8s. You want to do some of them to work the friction modifier into the clutch packs.

Only the manual v6 has a limited slip differential. This information and what fluid to use is of course in the Owners Manual.

I just had a noise coming from the rear that originally I thought was the diff. Turned out as it got louder, I could only hear it from the left rear and it was a wheel bearing.

Same here. It happened shortly after I installed diff bushings and cover and sounded so much like the diff that I replaced it with a used one. It turned out to be hubs.

I don't think that it's a wheel bearing issue because a wheel bearing issue would also make noise when I drove straight. Also, when the engine is cold the grinding noise is loud but as I start driving for 10 minutes the grinding noise becomes softer. The grinding noise only occurs when I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. I did do the 8's pattern at very low speed but it didn't help. Some people told me to put in a bottle of the OEM additive, as after market stuffs aren't nearly as good as the OEM oil. I'll drain the oil and put in the OEM oil and OEM additive as the last resort before I take it into a shop.

well a wheel bearing doesn't make noise going straight when it first starts to go. it starts making noise on turns as there is excess pressure applied. But since it is louder when cold and if it is making the noise at parking lot speeds on turns I would look at the clutches, add a half a bottle of the gm stuff and see what happens. at high speed the clutches really aren't moving much which is why it sounded more like a wheel bearing.

I've been a firm believer in non synthetic oils for years. Had same issue when I changed to 3.91's. Used the recommended synthetic w/friction modifier and still had noise. Switched to conventional gear oil with friction modifier and it is quiet as a mouse. Actually quieter than the factory gears. Worth a try.
