Air "Release" Sound After CAI / MAF Change

I recently got the C.A.I intake and changed the MAF to a "strong" one since my OG one had only a single letter, and this new one has a letter and #.

I did the C.A.I first, and drove it for a week with no issues. It felt a tad bit more powerful, and sounded much better, but I didn't get the power gain I had hoped for. More importantly, it didn't get rid of the damn throttle lag. If I'm cruising at 30mph in 2nd gear for example, and floor it, there's about a second lag before the car accelerates. This has been the case since day 1. I was told if I get a "strong" MAF that it may solve the problem. I have not noticied a difference.

No, after the MAF install, when I turn off the car, about half a second after it's shut off (more so simultaneously as everything is stopping when power is cut), I hear a fairly loud noise that sounds like air pumps out of somewhere. It sounds kind of when you open a bottle and that compressed air lets out (pssssssssss). I made sure the MAF was installed correctly along with the rubber gasket.

Any ideas or suggestions on any of the above?

Is the breather hose from the valve cover attached to the intake tube? Sounds like crankcase pressure to me.

Yup, all attached. The CAI had been installed for a week and this sound didn't exist. I've only heard it after the MAF install.

This is normal after a CAI install.. Don't know why you did not hear it at first but they all make this hiss after shutting down engine..

Oh, interesting. Good to know. Is your car running hot, too? I've noticed my fan keeps coming on, and I'm averaging about 210 degree when it was around 190 before.

I have a CAI and the strong MAF as well. Mine has never gone above 190 i am aware of. I also have never heard any air release. Maybe it's there or maybe not. Just never heard it and never noticed any change like that after swapping from stock.

The lag was corrected for me by installing a Vmax TB.

So after the CAI and strong MAF you didn't notice any change in throttle response? I guess I should go with a TB now. That lag is killing me.
