Angry Vehicle quality and reliability in the crapper?

I read a lot of different forums ,and I'm in the local car scene. Is it just me or is the reliability and quality of new vehicles going down hill? Im looking at replacing some of my older 2500 Chevys with 2016 2500s. So I go on the GM truck forum and read thread after thread about vibration issues. I mean how do you take a very smooth riding truck and screw it up? And, it looks like GM is throwing darts at the problem with no real fix. These problems across the board are just unacceptable for the outrageous amounts of money a consumer must pay for a vehicle these days. Anyone else feel discouraged against buying any new vehicle. I know I'm getting there, and I've always bought new to avoid issues. I guess what we as consumers have to do these days is figure out which problems you are willing to live with and then go with that vehicle. All the technology and engineering in the world doesn't mean crap if it doesn't work and isn't reliable.

End of rant. Just frustrated.

... or is it the fact that everyone and their uncle can post their opinion on some website now, that wasn't available 20 to 25 years ago?

That could be, but it really makes one uneasy about dropping 50k to potentially end up with more problems or worse problems than you currenty have. The last thing I need is my guys complainning to me that they have vibration sickness. For a service guy, getting a new truck is supposed to be a benefit.

One of my best friends has been through 3 new Silverado 2500 in 5 years. Two trannys in one. A blown engine in another and the latest one has tranny issues. I ask him why he keeps buying them. He says GM keeps taking back the junk ones for almost what he paid and is practically giving away the new one.

And I just keep reading this kind of stuff withe the new ones. I have a friend that has a landscaping business ,and he runs Dodges. He has had very little issues with the newer ones. Maybe I'll roll the dice. I've been buying Chevy trucks for a long time.

People put far too much value on anecdotes and not nearly enough on statistics

You can make statistics show you whatever you want them to.

Im into reality not statistics. I can't afford to run my busy anyother way. It's not hard to spend an hour on google and find complaint upon complaint about this vibration issue. I have friends that have been buying Chevy trucks for a very long time, just like me, that are completely sick of getting the run around with these new models. The statistics never break down real issues like a major vibration from an Iphone that wont connect to the radio. They just lump them all together which means nothing to me. The same thing is happening in my industry. They technology and efficiency are making quality and reliability take a back seat.

I've been wondering why I've been seeing so many low mile used 2014 and up Chevys trucks lately.

This.

People love to bitch about issues (I don't blame them), but the number of people complaining about how great their car is would be much, much smaller. Just how it is...overall cars have gotten MUCH better. All of my new cars (eight) over the past say, ten years (except for one) have been very good.

I used to use Chevy work trucks. After a series of junk transmissions I gave up. I bought another manufacturer and never looked back. One thing I never had issues with was the small block. However the new ones do I guess. ALong with the same tranny gremlins that have plagued GM for decades.

Gm-trucks.com?

Funny how as the price of vehicles go up the more complaints there are. Also don't forget the number of buyers vs complaints are a small percentage

Well, that's what I'm hoping. The way my luck is though if 2 out of 10 have the vibration, I'll end up with both of them. Lol
