sticky is up. I'm still working the angles I can. Unfortunately, I dont have all day, every day to spend working on this. Work, school, and other things take some priority in my life. I will update you guys with information as I get it, but these things do take time.

The sticky is calling for people who have broken their shafts. not for everyone with an M6.

Right but people that got theirs fixed a month ago aren't checking this forum. And future owners with broken shafts likely won't find the thread til it's too late (if ever). 245 people viewing that forum and 10 on this one...

So you are gathering data from this forum and its users who have this issue occur already? Why isn't GM giving you this information as it would be much faster and more accurate? It would take GM less than ten minutes to compile the data you are compiling from this forum.

I'm also gathering info from other areas as well. If you guys want to start another thread in the general area, go ahead.

If I worked for GM, I could answer that question.

Didn't you say you were speaking to contacts at GM? If you are, then ask them to send you this data we all need. Why are they keeping it from us for this long when it is a legitimate problem. Scott Fbodfather said we would not only have a VIn range from GM four months ago but a phone call if ours was affected. As far as we know, nobody on this forum has been contacted by GM prior to the problem occurring. This forum has many contacts that work for GM, phone numbers, some even close friends. We should pull our "palanca" or "pull" and make some phone calls in order to get some answers instead of simply playing their game. The "panic du jour" that you and others have mentioned can be lessened if GM would simply talk to us and tell us what steps they are taking to ensure our safety on this issue.

Agreed.. I haven't heard a thing about this from GM since Scott showed up months and months ago mentioning a VIN number list would be released and that we would get a call if ours was within the vin range affected.. Five months later and nothing...silence...

Some fun quotes...

"VIN lists will be out shortly.

I'm sorry if I come across as a bit irritated -- but people need to understand that the team has been working around the clock with the supplier to find root-cause - develop an action plan to repair -- and to determine the population of vehicles that have this issue.......

Let me repeat:

VIN lists will be out shortly!"

"Not true. If there is an issue, we'll notify."

"I am not supporting any such thing!

(...and I don't read the NY times......)

I am saying that GM is working on the problem and that we will do the right thing and that we will not put out a statement until we have all of the facts.

As you'll see -- I just mentioned that we're gonna contact EACH OWNER of a car affected.......but we can't very well do that until we determine WHICH cars are affected, now can we?

The internet is a great thing -- but people need to step back at times -- and understand that it DOES TAKE TIME to do investigations.

We continue to demonstrate that we are taking care of all problems associated with the new Camaro. "

"We will contact each customer who has a car involved......."

PS. I started a thread in the main section to hopefully shed some more light on this and get a response from GM.

seriously?

sometimes I wonder why I try and help you guys when all you do is bite the hand that feeds you. I step in trying to help you and all you can do is chastise me for it.

Yes, I've been speaking to contacts at GM. But do you realize how many people work for GM? and how many of those people dont know every detail of what is going on? My contacts have given me the info that they have.

as for the info they've given me, I've given it to you. this "data" that you want.... what data do you want? a list of vins that have been affected?
we've got a sticky with that info. do you want a list of vins that have been affected but arent on this website? good luck. thats privacy information there.

as far as GM keeping it from you. they told us flat out that it was an issue with the heat treating process from one of their suppliers. and this isnt the only car that has dealt with this problem.

as for using our "pull". what "pull" do you think we have? Do you really think that I can call Fritz, or Scott, or Maximum Bob and have them swing in here and tell you every little thing that has been kept under wraps? maybe I should call them and have them swing into the Z28 section and tell people whats really going on with the Z28.

this forum has a lot of members and we are tied very closely with GM. if it wasnt for GM, we wouldnt have a reason to be here. They chose us to give a lot of information to before this car was even being produced. They dont run our operations by any means, but we do respect what they have done for us.

as for your safety on this issue... what safety issue is there that we should be so worried about?

did you even read those quotes?

you guys are picking and choosing what you want to see and what you want to deny.

what you are seeing:
Quote:
I just mentioned that we're gonna contact EACH OWNER of a car affected..
what you are denying:

Quote:
but we can't very well do that until we determine WHICH cars are affected, now can we

now, as to which cars are affected... thats still in work.
The VINs are assigned after the body shop. And the Transmissions are stamped with a number that corresponds to the VIN...however, it is incredibly difficult to trace specifically which transmissions were the faulty ones
