I would say yes to this. The snows aren't only important for launching from a stop light, but for when you try to steer around a bend or such. Ineffective tread on the fronts or an imbalance between the front or back can cause a slew of traction issues in the snow. Yea a full set of shoes is expensive, but it's less expensive than removing a tree or another car from yours.

I went with Nitto NT90W winters on the factory 20x8's all around (have two sets of factory wheels) and they went through snow like nothing; they were a little slick when the road was wet and cold, however, so definitely need to remember you're not on a race track when you enter a corner. Looks like Nitto has a new one out, the SN2 (they sure have dumb names for their tires...). I also had the Michelin X-Ice XI3's or whatever the hell they're called, 225/60/18 on 18x7 wheels, and again had no issues, never got stuck. The narrower the better for snow and ice.

In Alabama it's easy.
If it snows just stay home for the day, it will be in the 70's before the day is over and tomorrow all the evil white stuff will be gone. |

Plus you get the added advantage of watching videos on the news of oblivious people in the their cars pirouetting 360s down the highway bouncing off guardrails.

Have a 2000 Monte Carlo, and used to have a 2013 v6 Camaro. I just got nice wheels for the summer and put blizzaks on my heritage steel wheels.
I run a dedicated set of winter tires on every car in my fleet that goes on the road in the winter. All-season tires just don't compare to having a dedicated winter and a dedicated summer wheel.

Too bad your so far away. I have a set of Blizzaks on 20 in rims I no longer need. I ran my car through 3 winters with no issues before I started putting it away.

What type of shape are the tires in? Winters up here near Erie can be bad. How much are you looking for them too?

I have used Blizzaks for 8 or 9 winters my first set was 245/45/20 square set up as I figured the skinnier rears would bite better.
The rears worked but wore out quickly as its just not enough tire under a heavy car My new set is stock 245/275 Blizzaks and she grips like a rat wearing Reeboks My Pontiac G8 is getting a set of Michelin X Ice 3's next week I found a set of 245/45/18's for $1000 cnd or about $700.00usd
