Range AFM
Hi All,
I just added the Range AFM to my L99 2013 2SS. It stops the 4Cyl mode in AFM from engaging. Car is much more responsive, no silly 4 banger exhaust tones either! Driveability of the car is much better feels like a full time V8 monster like it should! |

I did the same within a couple months of getting my car.
Last week I drove from Omaha, NE to Independence, MO and back. Took the Range device out for the trip down, then put it back in for the trip back. Looks like AFM gains me about 2 mpg on the highway generally. I don't plan on running without the Range unless I'm going on a long highway trip after this test. It also seemed like the interior noise was actually lower while running on all 8 cylinders. Might have been the difference between the lanes of the interstate however - hard to tell though. Love the Range, I just wish there was a way for it to sense when the engine was running so that it didn't run down the battery in 3 or 4 days of sitting!

Have you ever thought to get the AFM tuned to your mods / driving style? From factory it is set to get in your way a bit.

I didn't know that this thing will run down your battery by just keeping it installed.. crap... well, that really sucks. My camaro is not a daily driver so I really don't want to have to constantly having to put this thing in when I drive... oh well...

Some people use a OBDII Port cable with a switch to turn it off apparently might be worth a look for you...

How about hooking up a battery tender lead and just plug it in when not using it?

You can get a right angle cable and tuck the Range down in your kick panel. If you want to get fancy you can wire the on/off switch of the cable to a relay and have it only come on when the car is on. Then you would never have to worry about it.

I second this. I had my car tuned last month. It feels like a completely different car. My car had like 6,000 miles on it when I had it tuned. I would recommend it to anyone.
