Ethanol free gas?

I know all about 93 or 91 Octane and e85, but what is 87 Ethanol free gas for?

I know it is just gas, and doesn't have ethanol.

What are the pros and cons running it?

Same benefits as any ethanol free fuel regardless of octane. For example; better and complete burning, less corrosion easier on rubber and plastic parts and better milage. Unfortunately since the demand for it is so low and the refining process is more costly it is almost impossible to find and prohibitely expensive.

Where I live here I know of only one station that has 93 octane with no ethanol. Right now regular fuel is going for$2.65 but ethanol free 93 octane is $3.60 a gallon. I drive my car very little so I usually use it unless I am on the road. In the past 10 weeks for example I have filled up only 3 times and the 3rd tank is still more than three quarters full. So since I use the car so little the price doesnt bother me and I can tell the difference. The car gets better milage and runs more smoothly without hesitation. That crap is the worse thing you can do to a car. I usually carry some anti ethanol with me as an additive when I travel on the motorcycle.I dont want that junk in my Harley.

Only seen 87 octane here in FL. at WAWA did not want to run it since I usually run 93 octane and have done the fuse pull. Didn`t know if it would help or hender. If I could find 93 ethnol free I would run it every 3rd or 4th tank to keep things cleaned out.

I personally haven't seen any benefit in paying extra for it on newer cars. I drive four vehicles, 98 Silverado, 12 Tahoe, 11 Camaro V6, 08 HD Roadking. The only one the ethanol has an affect on is the 98 Silv. I lose about 2 mpg. The others I haven't seen enough difference in mileage or performance to notice a difference. The ethanol isn't good on older cars, lawn mowers, weedeaters etc that weren't designed for it. Like others will say the ethanol will have negative effects on the seals in carbs, etc and in fuel consumption.

Something else to think about is some places that sell non-ethanol gas don't put any additives in their fuel like Techron so while you get true gas it may not have the additives to keep the valves clean etc, basically low quality expensive gas. I still buy it as much as I can for my '98, HD, and gas cans, but try to do a seafoam/techron treatment as I think about it.

As said, newer cars are designed to run on it, but small engines and older cars can have problems. I use fuel stabilizer on my generator, chainsaw, etc. Mower is not as big a deal because it gets used a lot.

What I have had happen is oxidation in the float bowl because alcohol is hydrophilic. The oxidation (most of time rust) clogs the jets to where the engine can't get enough fuel to run. When it happens, I take the carb off, blow out the jets, clean the bowl, put it back together.

pros and cons........that might tread into politics so ... decide for yourself

.....when the house voted to end the ethanol support the bill had an eleven page "fact sheet" footnoted . That fact sheet is the .pdf attachement...so read and decide for yourself....

Main thing is that you use Top Tier gasoline, 91 will do but 93 will give optimum performance, Top Tier has the detergents recommended by GM to keep your engine running at it's best. It cost's a little more, but I get better gas mileage on it, while keeping the fuel system clean.

Some are pulling big power numbers using E85, which is a lot cheaper than race gas. From what I read on here, some places can get E30 too. Alcohol is not all bad. The government might as well subsidize something I can use for a change cuz solar panels sure aren't doing anything for me.

Ethanol free is preferred by boat owners and lawncare services. The ethanol absorbs water and causes issues with boats and small engines.
