Isn't that a cool funnel for 23 bucks?!!
I like the 175 mph blow off better.... hahaha love the thread!

Another excellent adventure to Nurburg. 5 laps / 65 miles...perfect weather, but many had the same idea - traffic.

May have to look at coming during an evening during the week for a clear lap - of course you don't get to see the Aventadors, 488 Ferrari's, and even fellow ZO6/Camaro's.

Car performed with no issue. I used the Track / Sport 1 mode and that resulted in much earlier throttle application as well as some oversteer. Much more natural! I also made much more use of the tires.

Best for the day was a 8:12 bridge to gantry time (not a full lap). Add ~25 seconds for the straightaway portion for a full lap time.

Hey Tim - keep posting! Really enjoy reading your stories!
I'm a Brit, and after 18 months of planning, just about to get my ZL1 on a boat to it's new home. I used to do the 'ring every year over about 12 years (it's a 9 hour drive for me) but haven't done so since the little one came along (7 years ago!). So once it's here, I need to pop it's cherry on a TF day.

Gary H: Thanks. Kudos to you for going with the big motor - should make your trip a bit shorter to the Ring!

Boost Creep: I briefly ran into the black Camaro at the gas pump...it is a European V8 Camaro (LT1). He liked the 'SS' badge on mine. He was certainly enjoying himself!

Sullie63: It is unique...few 6th gens thus far.

Red Hot ZL1: Bit more tire squeal for you!

The return trip was nearly as exciting. The unrestricted speed signs still make me feel a bit criminal...2-3 miles at WOT in 5th is an interesting feeling...

Tim how does your 1LE compare to the little car now that you have been able to flog it on the Ring?

Red Hot ZL1: My Subaru has more power/lower weight, but extended laps mean the intercooler overheats. The Camaro has none of that - same HP all the time. It could us more though (not for the Ring, on the Autobahn!)

One can certainly tell that the rear wheel drive chassis takes to the twists with more efficiency - AWD of the STI is idiot proof, but also seems to be a limitation at higher limits.

I still can't get over the stick in the corners it has. Finally a car that has sufficient tires under it from the factory! I'm still not comfortable with it - I'm fatigued at the end of each lap - a good work out!

I do miss the wing - wish this one had one (ie a ZL1 1LE version...), but the exhaust note is music to my ears.

Here is a shot of the car nearly new/14 years ago at the Ring toll gate...never thought I'd find myself back in the same place!

Looks like someone has a road legal ZL1 1LE in Germany! Spied on the Ring:
