When someone is questionning about suspension being too harsh, you have part of the answer right there.
Asking about it implies that he is not willing to commit himseft to a stiffer ride a 100%.
If you add up all of the 1le's camaro, they don't even totalled 2% of the entire production run. That is a very small amount of people who whishes for a ''stiffer performance ride''. The reality is that 90% of owners drive on FE2, FE3 and FE4 and they love it.

I did too until I started to do track days...then I wanted a stiffer ride so I got it and love it too. But there is a down side to it. The FE3-FE4 camaro takes any road conditions, from very bad dirt to the best and makes it an enjoyable ride, where the 1LE will make you think twice about it.
I used to drive my camaro anywhere, now about 80% of those roads only.
that being said, we have very very damage back roads here in Quebec.

If you do not track your car or can't enjoy a Good back road excitment on proper pavement, whats the point of owning a 1LE to daily drive...the SS will give you more for less.
It's what you perceive as a harsh/stiff ride. I've always had little cars, 4 bangers, unless it was a truck/SUV. To me, the 1LE isn't as bad as the Austin, Bug, Escort, Spectre, MG, TR6, Arrow, Toyota Pickup, Camry I've owned in the past. I wouldn't trade the stiffer ride to lose the corner hugging ability that comes with the 1LE. When I drive up to the mountains, and play in the twisties, it shines all day long! I drive ~80 miles a day, and it's a great car over some pretty crappy Denver area roads.

+1 on the BFG's too!

Here is a simple answer to the OPs question. Go drive one. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Simple. They are out there

If there are no 1LE's for you to test drive, you might look for Camaro clubs in the area. There may be a member or three there with 1LE's that would meet up with you so you can take a drive with them?

I just searched Facebook and came up with the Virginia Camaro Club, Northern Virginia Camaro Club and Richmond Camaro Club. Try finding a club in your neck of the woods. Worth a try.

Good Luck!

Asking this question on the 1LE section of the forum is definitely gonna get you a positive answer about DD'ing a 1LE. That said, I've owned numerous performance cars, and find the ride of my 1LE pretty darn nice. I have absolutely no issues with the ride, and specifically enjoy it because of it's firmness. My wife is a Lexus driver, and she never complains about the 1LE's ride, unless I'm taking turn at 1g....

I certainly appreciate all the input. I was in a bit of a pickle as time was running out on the incentives. The dealership I was trying to work with was not going to make test driving possible. However, in the end and after 2 deals down to signing paperwork has fallen through anyways. I felt I had decent deals going on 2 seperate remaining 2015's. However, at the last moment i t was discovered I didn't qualify for $3000 in rebates. This was a deal killer for me. As far as the original question goes, I have done upgrades to my GTO and can certainly handle a stiffer ride. The inability to get a 1le to drive sent me trusting others evaluation.

Yea, if the dealer isn't gonna allow me a test drive, we're done there....that's b.s. Sorry it didn't work out for you, but why not find a private sale? Quite a few great deals out there on clean, lightly used 1LE's....

I know this is a ways away from you, but this car is at my local dealer, Dan Vaden Brunswick, GA:

I have bought quite a few vehicles from them, and work well with a sales gal there named Angie Niece. PM me if I can help. I have seen the car and it looks pretty nice, has a few mods, but I have not really got into it. Good luck!

Rodgers Chevy has this one... I've heard nothing but great things about them. and they ship cars too, from what I've heard.

I wonder where anyone ever got the idea that a 1LE had a harsh ride. I think I've read about everything written about the car and never saw one person testing the car write anything like that about the ride. I have even taken mine thru Amish country in Iowa on dirt roads and my seat mate never mentioned any problems and we put so much dust in the air that I had to go to the closest car wash when we got done. Elvira had turned from black to grey. Then headed back to Az on 80 that is always under construction thru Denver where the roads really suck and down to I 40 and rough road is combined with Semi-pylons. 26K and not one complaint.

Mr. Wyndham did a review on here that's been a sticky since 2012. He did use the word "harsh." Overall, he loved the car.
My wife and I are in our 60's and retired. One or two F-bodies in the driveway since 1978. Nowadays we also drive a Silverado and Yukon. She's OK with the 1LE ride 99% of the time. I see her leaning forward anticipating my gear shifts when she hears the RPM's building but she's too sweet to complain. I knew she was the right girl back when she was 15.

Thumbs up

I DD my 1LE and run it above average speed. Smooth surfaces and the car dampening is great at 75 - 90 mph. You still need change the dampers every 25k milles, some might do it earlier. On commuter roads with uneven surfaces you'er looking to drive around pot holes and slow down for bumps. But over all the cars pretty good with the gearing being just about perfect for the performance commuting race.

Why are you changing your shocks so soon?

I love the flat cornering of the 1LE and have always been hard on whatever I'm driving. I'm speeding up to catch yellow lights and slowing way way down to catch the yellow turn signal before it turns red. The 1LE suspension's perfect for this type of driving. Only problem, the oem dampening starts to fade around 15k miles. I would go coil overs with a little preload on the springs if I could find a good after market solutions that maintained the stock ride height and didn't make noise or cost 6 thousand dollars. Is it cheaper to replace the factory equipment or buy premium dampers?
