Sorry to hear about that. Like fbodfather stated that helps to turn the steering wheel and lock. I would also strongly recommend anyone and everyone to get a top of the line security system put in your car. I have been a victim of car jacking and the police never recovered the vehicle. I now have the full blown security system, GPS, glass detection, wheel detection, hood pins, kill switch which activates and will disengage the engine if they try to drive off. I fully believe it's money worth spent, you also can monitor from your phone anywhere in the U.S., and will tell you if someone is jacking with your car and what area. Just advice and food for thought

People do jack vehicles that way. A few years ago thieves with a flat bed pulled right up to my house in the middle of the night and loaded up my M5.

One of my neighbors noticed it, but assumed it was just being repo'd.

Glad to hear you dodged a bullet. Unfortunately, flat bed car theft is fairly common these days.

I had a fully restored 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS stolen by a flatbed tow truck years ago, police said it happens all the time. Thankfully had it fully insured, but money did not replace all the sweat and tears that went into restoration. Sucks and glad you stopped it from happening.

Unhappy

It happens here in Birmingham, AL too. I work overnights and one of my employees had her car stolen by a tow truck. It wasn't even a new/nice car. Just a late model daily driver. Really sucks that people have to be such pieces of filth.

Crazy story!

Do our cars have some sort of location device on them? Seems that Onstar should be able to track it down?

Yeah Onstar is first method for GPS tracking. Need to make sure your service is active. If not activate it or option B purchase an advanced alarm system as I stated above. It is kind of expensive but well worth it!!!!

I had a neighbor in my old apartment complex that heard glass break and walked to his window to see my blazer being broken into. He later said he saw it wasn't his vehicle so he went back to bed... Just saying, you owe your neighbor a big sloppy kiss.

Someday cars will come with passive security cameras that send video to a designated place (smart phone, e-mail, etc.). Also they can send an alert to your phone should someone come in contact with your car, and as a passive camera they will start recording 30 seconds before any incident. This will alleviate door dings, car jacking, vandals, and thief's.
