Cruise control at 150 MPH, and the LS3 was just purring.
So last Sunday was finally Silverstate, and i ran the 140 class with a "tech" (speed limit 165) speed of 165. Im not tuned yet so im at 155. We were running a Dual 160 GPS which updates 10 times a second. At this speed our speedo's are off by 2 miles an hour, when i was running 140 my speedo said 138. Even though no tune is limited to 155, we actually hit 159 according to the GPS. After all the problems i had at Miller last year and COTA this year trying to get video with an external mic, well this time it worked another new mic. OMG the sound is simply AWESOME!!!!
I spent most of the time on cruise control as i thought this would help dial us in and keep us on time. I had my son Jason be my navigator and he did a fantastic job keeping me going fast and on time, i just loved it when he said speed up. He had me running full throttle several times. The sound while in 6th doesn't sound good, but when i take 5th and go baby go When i shift back to 6th it sounds like were going 30 miles an hour, but were still 150 MPH. The 3rd video we run the NARROWS, the only real turns on the course. It is posted 60 MPH as you enter, but that is just ridiculous you could pull a trailer at 80 easy. I haven't run this event in 2 years (because of Miller-COTA)last time i went in at 117, this time it was 123, and saw 145, well i didn't but Jason did on the GPS, it was an absolute rush. There were a couple times i wanted to slow down as i was really going fast, but having full confidence in what i was driving i just stayed with it. So as i said my boy did a fantastic job navigation, but i screwed up the finish. As we were getting close he started counting down 20-19-18 etc. I was looking at the finish line and slowed down, which was a mistake, you will hear me pick the throttle up and even panic downshift to 4th. We came in about a second slow, which is huge and finished 4th. There were only 6 cars in the 140 class, so super bummer. Fellow C5'er MRBZ28 was there and went to the awards banquet and texted my the results or i wouldn't know for another week or so. Thanks again Barry.

Quote:
the V6's with the RS package have the speed limiter set by the factory to 155 mph as well. the v6's without the RS package are "tuned" to substaintially less. and OP, just awesome! |
