V8 / V6 exhaust

I have been thinking for 2 days where to post this... on the V8 section, on the general discussions or here on V6...... so here it is.....

After much search, reading and debate on numerous exhaust systems, from cat back to axel back, to straight pipes and so on....adding horse power and what not... bottom line is the V8 and V6 and very much alike symetrically and V8 bolts on directly to the V6 no matter if it's stock, or after market.

Why couldn't we.... or what would be the problem on any aftermarket V8 exhaust and installing it on a V6?

Other question is any problem with just cutting off the muffler and going a straight pipe? how would any after market exhaust enhance it otherwise?

The V8 exhaust will fit on a V6, this guy did it with the Cherry Bomb exhaust. It ups the size of the pipes from 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" and has an x pipe, which SHOULD mean all V8s will work

Yes, they are interchangeable. I have the Doug Thorley catback which is identical between the V6 and V8.

I just switched my Axel back Magnaflow Supper 44's to Dynomax Vt's...Mucho Drone with the Magnaflows, none at all with the Dynomax. Hopefully will get a clip of them soon to post.

You still will have the ugly ass "gas tank" mufflers showing at the rear with the V8 swap...

Hrmm...I'm guessing you meant Flowmaster Super 44s??

Don't think Magnaflow makes Super 44s....but if I'm wrong Im wrong.

so far..... not a good idea to just remove the mufflers and put in straight pipes and exhausts swap, whether stock or aftermarket........debate aside from performace..... seems to be raspiness sound or too much drone depending on the brand

Screaming or ? Does anyone know if the outlet pipe on the V6 LLT cats is compatible with the 2-1/2" OD SS pipes (on the full OEM SS cat back system), where they meet the cats? I would like to know if the SS exhaust TRULY will fit the V6 at the back of the cats? Do the factory SS 2-1/2" OD pipes fit nicely over or inside the V6 (2-1/4"??) cats or just exactly how does that work? Thanks in advance any one who contributes but especially those who actually are sure about the answer. I want to do this at home if possible. Thanks!!! John

The v6 is 2.5" exhaust until the factory resonators, at which point it drops to 2.25", IIRC. That's why v8 cat backs fit.

It will fit just fine, but you won't like the sound of it. Trust me I know this.
