I have never brake-stalled mine at the line, and I will be in the 1.5's soon. I don't know why everyone thinks they must. Just "rolling into it" off idle has worked fine for me. Less worry about traction, breaking things, etc., and it still cuts a nice sixty.

Padre,

Flashing the converter has always worked best for me as well until I had this boosted car. Bringing up the rpm`s even slightly on these PD blowers puts you into a little boost and they do 60 foot better brake stalling them. I was suprised to find this out too, but it works on my car. I have done on average .05-.07 better brake stalling it on the stock converter.

Bolt-on vs. boost.

But for me, I would still hold back if/when I go FI. I always have in the back of my mind "traction limited". For me, on my bolt-on setup, bringing up the RPM's at the line usually pushes me past the traction limitation.

Now, if I had slicks and skinnies on my bolt-on car, I'm sure I could launch it at whatever RPM's the brakes would hold. Heck, I could even get a Trans Brake.

I've found some converters worked better with flashing them off near idle, and some liked to be stalled up.
