Customizing Interior paneling

Ok so I have a 2010 camaro 1LT with cloth interior trim(pictures attached). When I bought the car I only wanted one with leather so they replaced the cloth seats with katzkin leather but didn't replace the cloth dash and door trim. I was working around with it and realized the dash pieces pop out easily and the cloth is just glued and stapled on. I also know how to get to the panel on the door out so I'm fine with the process. I thought of the idea to take the cloth off and maybe switch it with a different material of maybe lightly sand the left over adhesive and maybe paint the plastic and put a gloss on it. I enjoy doing work by myself and have fun in the garage and don't want to buy new door trims. I'm asking around and was wondering if anyone has already done this and what you people think. I'd like to hear ideas or comments about it. Please feel free to comment any ideas or opinions.
*i do not own the pictures attached*

You can use Prepsol to remove the glue residue once you remove the fabric. After that give it a nice scuff with a gray scotchpad, primer and paint away. You can also cover it with a vinyl wrap or a leather look material. Possibilities are endless.

Interested in this as well, can you vinyl over the cloth that's already on it, or do you have to take the cloth off?

Mine didn't have cloth, but I wrapped my panels and dash trim with suede. Much better

Mine came with the factory grey plastic panels which was not okay. I took them off and painted them VR. Then got bored with it, sanded them down, but down primer, then red, then black plastidip, then clear coat (to separate plastidip so it looked like lava). And now this weekend I'll be wrapping them in black suede.

I didn't want to go through the hassle of taking off the door panels so I had them covered w/ the vinyl that graphics are made from. It's easily removeable should I want to go back to original, or if I ever sell the car maybe the new owner won't like it so they can easily remove it.

You want to remove the cloth to give the vinyl a better surface to adhere too.

I took it the the body shop at the dealership and told them what I wanted. They delivered!

As I plan on keeping the car for decades, declining value doesn't matter. I can always go to the junk yard and buy replacement parts if I want original again.
