ZL1 side skirts question

When I received my ZL1 side skirts from my local dealer, I noticed that out of all the new clips included (36 of them) that only 6 have the rubber washers/gaskets. But when I removed my factory side skirts, all the clips had them installed from the factory. So does the ZL1 skirts only use 3 on each side and if so which locations? Or do I need to use the rest of the old washers/gaskets or does this cause a fitment issue?

to be honest I don't think it matters. Either way I don't think you'll have any fitment issues. I would just re use you're stock hardware if its not damaged. that's what I did. and just ignore funny guy's comment above. Someone people just like to troll rather than helping out other members

Yeah unfortunately there was some casualties with some of the original clips. Had a lot that didn't release as a few videos I watched pointed out could happen. So I figured hell I now have a new set of clips, I might as well use them. Bottom line is that I do not want to install these only to find out that I was or was not suppose to use the gaskets on all of them then risk breaking more clips trying to remove the rockers again.

I have an LT2 and installed the ZL1 rockers on my car. My oem rockers had three clips with the gaskets on the top three positions closes to the rear wheel on each side for a total of six. Hope it helps.

Thanks and very interesting! So your stock rockers only had 6 with the gaskets but mine had them on all? Wonder if it's a model year thing or something else?

That is correct. Even the ZL1 rockers i got had just three clips with gaskets on each one in the same location. They came off a wrecked 2013 ZL1 so you may be right in that GM started adding them to all the clips after 2013?

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Can anyone confirm what's correct or not?

Well I got my rocker moldings back from paint and they look amazing. I came close to installing them unpainted but glad I didn't. I guess I'm going to install all the gaskets on the clips and hopefully no fitment issues. Planning on installing them early next week.

They will install just fine. Be sure to post some pics after the install. I'm sure they will look great!

I just put the right side ZL1 rocker on my '15 1LE this past Saturday.
ALL of the original retainers had the foam rubber washers.
Only 4 of the 18 retainers that came with the rocker had the washer. I reused the old ones but some were kinda beat up from removal.

So I called the dealer and ordered a whole set of retainers for the left side. These have the washers on them.

The washer is not sold separately.

Thanks guys for the added info and comments! I'll get some pics but unfortunately that'll be a while. I'm going to have a paint protection film applied but was told today that I need to wait 6 weeks or no warranty. They want to give the new paint time to continue outgassing if it is? So I guess she's going to sit for a month or so now.

I do have new clips with the foam washers ordered but those will be for the original rockers. The new rockers came with new clips and 6 foam washers. I'm going to reuse the "old ones on the remaining clips. I too had a few that were torn but the 6 included will cover those so all good there. Like I said, it's just the waiting now SMH.
