Cutouts on a ZL1

A little help? Has anyone put cutouts on a ZL1 convertible? Doesn’t seem like there is a lot room!

You already have exhaust cutouts from the factory. To make them manual you just have to install a controller. Search this forum (there are a lot of posts on the subject)or watch this video...…. https://youtu.be/R1WfpAotXIY

Those are not cutouts. That link is for controlling the butterfly valves on the NPP exhaust.

OP, as far as cutouts on a vert, I'm not certain. I know that when I installed the exhaust on my vert, there wasn't much room. All of the bracing really eats up the space.

P.S. I don't know which product you are looking at, but on No Weeds' website, it specifically says "Not for Convertible".

I am running the no weeds on my hard top. My friend was looking at getting them for his convertible so we tried to mock them up under the car. The vert just doesn't have the space for them. Might be some smaller ones on the market that will fit a vert.

Where there is a will there is a way. Find a local exhaust shop that can fab up some work and they should be able to get a regular cutout in there.

You can absolutely fit cutouts underneath a Camaro ZL1 Convertible. We are currently finishing up the install of some QTP cutouts on a 2013 Camaro ZL1!

Interesting. The picture of the cutouts seems to show plenty of room for the install. Are all the original convertible braces still intact? or was one or more removed for the install.?

Just some info. A fellow here had them installed and were discharging near the centerline of the back of the door. Set off the side air bags as the air bag sensor is in the same area.

I saw that video. He is running the same cutouts that I am. I guess good thing it has not happened to me.

Correct in that they are not cut-outs, but the point was that for all intents and purposes, they act like cut-outs while staying barely legal with respect to emissions and noise pollution laws. My understanding is that tampering with the emission system is illegal in most if not all states within the union.

Therefore, no need to add cut-outs when "Mild2Wild" will do almost the same thing, retaining all the emission control systems while staying legal.
