Tuning Question HP Tuners vs EFI Live

I have an LS3 with Magnuson SC running basically a stock magnuson HPT tune. I bought HPT and the Tuning School to learn but I'm not there yet. Carried the car to a tuner in Atlanta to get the car properly tuned since adding Kook's LT's and CAI. Got a call today telling me that they use EFI Live and if they do the tune it will no longer be able to be tuned or read using HPT. Thus rendering my HP tuner software unusable. ??? I can't understand this. I would think the software used would wouldn't matter what goes into the ecm and the ecm could then be read or tuned later with something else....

The only way EFI Live would render HPT unable to do anything is if they use a custom operating system. There's a guy in Atlanta that goes by RWTD on boards... he's an avid HP Tuners user. You might want to see if you can find his contact information.

He is in Alabama as far as I knew...

You need to ask them why this is the case.
My guess is they are planning to do a 2 bar SD tune, which would be a custom OS, which would keep you from being able to use HPt later on...

find someone to tune it with hp tuners,, hp tuners also has a 2.5 bar(with or without maf) OS for the camaro, i have it in my tune,, very nice to be able to control the cooling fan at all temps and to have an actual VE table to tune, and keep your maf if you want to

WOW!! I would say you need fuel! was the Wideband reading a tailpipe sniffer?? You are REALLY Pushing the Danger Zone with the AFR's. Id be bitting my lip seeing 13.3 AFR on my N/A setup let alone a boosted Application.

Only certain OS IDs have an enhanced version.

Just curious, what are you running in terms of a fuel system?

Mark I can tune your car from here and you will be able to continue using HP tuners without Issue.

Your Numbers are right on what they should be, but lean and I have a custom MAF curve to correct that.

Send me your tune file.

Ted.

Ted,

I added 6% to the MAF curve as recommended by MTI Racing. I also followed the procedure of logging Fuel Trims up to 4500 rpm and adjusting until I got the trims real close to 0 with PE turned off. I need to get it back to the dyno to check the WOT AFR. I'll e-mail the tune for you to take a look at it if you want. I have done nothing with spark. The KR is not bad. The only knock trouble I see is at cruising at say 1500-1800 and accelerate you get knock up to about 2200. I've read there is too much spark in this area. My main concern was the lean condition in PE.
