ABL connector info

I posted this info in one of the DIY ABL threads, but thought it might be found easier in it's own thread...

You can order delphi connectors and terminals directly through... Mouser Electronics -- for cheap! (www.mouser.com) even if you orderer extra terminals (crimping without a metripack crimper is a bit tedious, but doable) you will still likely come out ahead... (usps shipping is typically 5 bucks, so the shipping costs more than the parts!)

Here's the info for the ABL connectors (Delphi Metripack 150 Unsealed series)

Female Connector Body 12047662
Terminal Retainer 12047664
Female Terminals (req 2) 12047767

Male Connector Body 12047663
Terminal Retainer 12047665
Male Terminals (req 2) 12047581

info on Delphi part numbers : http://connectors.delphi.com/DCSGDMCS/HomePage.aspx
info on the Delphi Metripack connector family: http://connectors2.delphi.com/dcsgdmcs/del/attachments/Printed%20Catalog%20Selection/met150.pdf

No problem! I've been doing this kinda stuff for awhile, with my current vehicles. I hate hacking up factory wiring, etc so since most of what is in the car is either delpi, or to a lesser extent tyco, the mating/matching parts are typically available from other sources than the dealer.

Are there other connectors or mating connectors that would be useful?

Also, since I was asked elsewhere, the special metripack crimpers, I got from Ballenger Motorsports, here: http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...roducts_id/362

the crimp tool is about $30, but It's a good tool to have on hand if you plan to do factory style wiring mods. You don't HAVE to have the tool, it can be done with a needle nose pliers if you're steady enough--I just got to the point that it made sense to order the crimp tool.

I know this is an old thread , but any tips for wiring up the harness? I seem to have a problem getting the terminals to pull through to seat in the harness.

If your putting them in correctly, they'll click in. Then you use the gray keeper to hold them in. Are you using to large a wire? If the wire is too large it will prevent the terminal from entering the connector all the way.

Actually, that sounds like a bad crimp. The insulation-crimp portion is likely deformed.

You know, based on part numbers above its not letting me order less than 50 connectors on one thing and the keepers order 500 minimum.

I don't mind a few extras but I really don't want hundreds of these things.

Did you go to the Mouser website or the Delphi website? The Delphi site is for info only, not for ordering, unless your a factory.

I just tried both connectors at Mouser and they came up just fine.
