Differential Question

I'm working on a project for my Physics of Motorsports class (coolest class EVAR) where I will calculate the theoretical/ideal 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for the Camaro. I've got practically all of the other numbers I need, but does anyone know the gear ratio for the rear differential?

Thanks in advance, and once I have my results I'll be sure to post it all up here.

3.27 for all models, except: 3.45 for Manual SS.

Let us know how it all turns out, it ought to be cool!

if you wanna make it look better, we're supposed to get a 3.73 option in 2011.

Isn't 3.45 the transmission ratio? The differential should have its own, or are they the same?

The transmission has 6 different ratios...I'm not sure what you mean about that...

The numbers I provided are for just the differentials, and the number zebra provided was a future differential option.

Dragon gave you good numbers. How accurate do you need to be? weight? trans gearing? tire patch & size/diameter/width? HP/torque? Need these numbers also.

Yeah, we're using mass, tire radius, gear ratios (preferably the trans and rear diff ratios, to be most accurate) and then I'm going to use the G8 GXP HP/Torque curve chart since that's the closest we've got (same engine and same basic chassis).

I have everything but the rear diff ratio and don't really know where to find that, hence the thread.

Any suggestions?

This is everything you should ever need in terms of gear ratios.

Thanks a lot Dragon, I'll flip through it and see if I can find what my prof was talking about.

I got bored today at work; see if this helps at all...

**edit-> as noted below this is with 17" tires (someone was asking me about them). See a few posts down for the 20" spreadsheet.

I think it's cool you took the time, but I think the rear wheel / tire diameter is 28.66" not 25.66".
