Why keep comparing the GT 500 to SS specs?
The only thing I was comparing was weight....and the GT500 weights less. Remember the GT500 is the PIG Mustang. Right now the SS is the best Chevy has (and a very nice car).

Who compared specs? All that was said was that the 2011 GT500 weighs less than the Camaro SS which I think is worth noting but would hardly call it comparing specs.

But I agree, can't compare the SS with the GT500. Until GM comes out with a Z28 (big IF imho)....

Coolman, like bpmurr said unless you are road racing I wouldn't trade yours in and get a 2011 unless money is of no factor to you then, sure I would do it. The depreciation loss that you would take would not be worth it. I got an e-mail from Ford today and they are claiming a 3 second drop in lap times from the 2010 GT500 to the 2011 GT500 on a road course (not sure which one)...that's a pretty big drop. Although it'll be very easy to make the 2010 just like the 2011, if not better, for a few thousand dollars.

I think GM execs are trying to justify a Z28 right now. But GL imo. After the bailout, I do not think GM is going to be able to get all the top brass together to pull the trigger. They had enough issues with the SS, or rather some complaints. (About bringing a high HP car out)

Also, unlike Ford, GM has to worry about stepping on vettes toes. Sure they are not the same class car (IMO) but imagine a Camaro with the performance of a Zo6 or even near it ! Then what ? At what price ?

Lot of hard questions there...will be interesting to see the answers.

Keep in mind it is the fastest "mustang" and in regards mustang is more comparable to Camaro. It interesting enough that the fastest mustang putting stock 550hp out weighs less than the Camaro. I don't think anyone was comparing it performance wise, just an interesting aspect to look at things.

I agree, the cars are simply in completely different price brackets with the GT and SS being much more direct competition. To a certain extent this is one that depends on what your viewpoint is. If you're looking at the GT500 what do you compare it to when you're shopping? The Challenger SRT-8, Camaro SS, M3? Those are all odd matchups at best but I can't think of anything that would make more sense, at least until GM steps up to the plate with the expected Z/28.

Actually when I bought my GT500 I looked at the Challenger SRT-8, Camaro SS, and GT-R. Talk about a variety. I almost bought a SRT-8 Challenger and GT-R. Didn't get the Challenger because I lost my job right before I went to order it. Didn't get the GT-R because you have to baby it like a Ferrari.

The Z/28 wouldn't be anywhere near a Z06. It would be stepping on the base Corvette's toes, not the Z06. I'd imagine it would have every bit the straight line speed (if not more) of the Corvette, but I'd expect it to fall behind the Corvette on the road courses. However, that might not be the case considering the Z/28's history of it being a road course oriented vehicle. It's things like this that are probably keeping GM from giving it the go ahead.

This is one sexy beast. Get me payments like I'm paying on my Camaro and I'd pay for them both!

From the video, its sounds good. Sounds like more S/C whine. Also it seems it is putting down better traction as well.
