Help with AFR data logging

So I have a SCT X4 tuner and a Email tune from Jannetty. I am supposed to do some data logging including my AFR. I watched as couple videos and checked out some stuff on Google. I wanted to see if someone on here has done this before. I am waiting for my AFR gauge to show up so I havent done anything but set the oil level in the SC. Here is the information that I grabbed from their ad. I assume I have to buy a Firewire and cut it in half use the white wire for power the red wire for signal and the black wire for ground. Am I missing anything or is it that simple?

This wideband air/fuel gauge also comes standard with a 0 to 5 volt digital output that allows you to connect it to virtually any data logging or engine management system

Wideband is not difficult to hook up other than welding in the bung. You have 2 wires on the fire wire red or orange. You can use either for channel selection. Also in live wire make sure you have the equation correct otherwise your log data will be incorrect. Ted I am sure will send instructions.

More info from web

Data Logging Output: Offers two analog outputs for monitoring and capturing Air / Fuel Ratio using a third party data log device
Wire Color Function Connection Signal Voltage
Green Provides the positive (+) analog NARROWBAND voltage output signals. Data Logger (+) 0– 1 volts
Brown Provides the positive (+) analog WIDEBAND voltage output signals. Data Logger (+) 0 – 5 volts
Black Provides the negative (-) ground reference for both analog NARROWBAND &
WIDEBAND voltage output signals.
Data Logger (-) Ground

I think from these instructions I hook Brown to red and black to black. I will have to look for a positive wire for power all of the time to hook to the white wire in the firewire cable I think.

The data log will give you voltage, which you will use to calculate AFR. AFR = (v*2)+10.

The more I search on the internet, the more I think I just need the Orange wire to the brown wire from the gauge and the black wire to the black wire in the gauge. In the SCT video it shows hooking the white wire to 12v power, but I dont think I will need that. I am going to get a Firewire from SCT too, so I dont have to figure out different wire colors in a generic Firewire.

The equation formula differs between manufacturers of the wide band

Here is what I think it is by time spent on the internet, based on my gauge range of 10-20

AFR Range 10 – 20
AFR = ((20-10)/4)*V + 10 = (10/4)*V +10 = 2.5*V + 10 So the equation you put into Livelink is "2.5*V + 10" without the quotes.

Are you running AEM?

The AEM Uego equation for HPtuners is (V / 0.5)+10.

Not sure if its the same as your SCT.
