The itch that wont go away

http://www.moneyautomotive.com/detai...22046796?cid=5

Like so many V6ers out there I feel the need/ want for that V8
2012 1SS with a mere 13,550 miles on the ole odometer at $21,900.

My '11 2LT RS has been great to me. Do I give up my leathers seats, HUD, 4 pack gauges, etc for the almighty v8? I'm thinking this is a steal. Yay or Nay?

Do you want some go or show? You can always do some mods on the SS and change the appearance.

it seems like a good deal.the real question is,are you going to use all that power on a regular basis,or do you drive like a mere mortal who doesnt want tickets, insurance hikes, etc.ive had my share of modified v-8s,the roar of headers and glasspacks, etc.and they are fun but do have their negative points too.at 59 years old my ears ring constantly from loud engines and too much loud rock and roll, and i have been pulled in the distant past for using all of that v-8 power and not much good judgement.im fine with a nice, quiet luxurious camaro that can still go 150 mph. if i was to get that stupid.but hey,it is a v-8,if you are convinced that you want one and can afford it,go for it.otherwise...theres always calamine lotion...LOL

Personally I wouldn't pay 22k for a base model, even for the low miles.

It does look like a Killer deal, And don't let your fellow 6 owners try and talk you out of it-- Their probably Salivating looking at the ad.
Base Model ?? You get a lot with it --- Most importantly the Mighty engine !!!

Honestly no clue, 22 just seems like a lot for a stripped SS. I bought mine for 23k in 2015 fully loaded with 25k miles.

I checked Edmunds and it says it's worth about 22, to me that just doesn't seem worth it though. For comparison in my area, there is a 2012 black 2SS/RS with backup cam, HUD, and maybe sunroof hard to tell with 23k miles for 24k. I'd be more likely to look at that one due to the options(granted someone put an ugly chrome grill on it and the leather seats are tan/black).

Hopefully some recent buyers of used 1SS Camaros can chime in and help.

Approximately one year ago, I paid $21,500 through a dealership for my 2010 Camaro 2SS with 52k miles. Therefore, the asking price doesn't appear unreasonable IMO.

Back in the day, a "base" model means no AC, no radio, no power windows/locks, no tachometer, etc. My first base car did not even come with passenger side mirrors. I would call a 1SS an "entry" level V8.
If leather is a must for you, look for a 2SS. Otherwise, the cost of trying to acquire leather seats later on would end up costing you more overall.

I would keep shopping. You WILL find a deal for a low mile 2SS if you keep trying. It's also a 2012, so try and get newer as well as low miles if at all possible. I think a 2013 is the sweet spot for those early 5th gen looks + pretty much all the available electronic upgrades that came out after 2012.

My thoughts, even with the upgrade to the V8, you will remember your nice leather and gauge pack and all the other goodies you gave up for the engine. For that kind of money I suggest not giving anything up and doing the full upgrade. Don't sell yourself short.

Keep researching man. You will find it eventually. There is a 2SS out there just for you, you just haven't found her yet.
