2012 2SS HID Issue after fender bender

I got into a fender bender causing only 2 small cracks in the bumper and my upper grill got bent in. I then noticed the passenger side HID bulb was not working. The LED halo works just fine. I pulled the bulb and installed on the driver side and it works just fine. I could not find any damaged wires short of taking off my bumper cover. Any ideas before I drop $700 on a new headlight assy?

Check your connections first, then make sure you have power to the lights. If that doesn't work out, try swapping your ballest to the drivers side and see what happens. Not a real good way to troubleshoot HID lights that i'm aware of except by swapping parts around.

There is no visible damage to any part of the headlight. That is what is confusing me most. Fuse was checked and no issue there. Can the module fry from a simple bump?

The headlight in question miraculously started working again about a week ago. It worked for about a day or 2 before it stopped again. Any idea what this might be? Harness?

thank you! do you think the dealer would cover this under warranty with the two small cracks in my bumper from my little fender bender? in other words, could the bad ballast be caused by the collision? if I'm SOL, can you link me to a trusted vendor?

If you filed this on your insurance, you should be able to get this covered by them. As for a dealer covering it, maybe. Just depends on there mood and your relationship with them. I myself would go to the service manager and tell them what happened and let things fall where they may. You might be surprised. Use a factory ballast.

That would be an insurance claim, not a dealer warranty. That in turn means you should go ahead and pay out of pocket unless there is other damage to fix.

I would definitely suggest going to a dealership to see what exactly is happening with the component. Please let us know what you decide to pursue.

Why not turn it in to insurance and get it all fixed?
