Whatever changes NHRA D/S class allows. General engine rules are as follows:
Cars must not exceed factory specs. Camshafts must retain factory lift numbers, though any duration is allowed. Crankshafts can be balanced, but not lightened beyond OEM specs. Cylinder heads may not be ported, neither can intake manifolds. Rod and/or piston assembly can not be lighter than factory specs. Valves can not be larger than OEM. Carburetors and fuel injection throttle bodies can not exceed factory specs either. Certain aftermarket and replacement parts are allowed, but must meet the weight, volume, and other dimensions of OEM parts.
Wheelbase must meet manufacturers specs, +/- 3/4 of an inch. Slicks are limited to 9″ wide. Hood scoops are not permitted, unless that combination (car/motor) came with one.

Now there may be some other things that are/are not permitted, but I'm no expert on NHRA drag racing. I do know the cars have to meet at least minimum manufacturers shipping weight and they allow 170 lbs for the driver.

Here's one of Jerry's runs of 10.57@124:

Jerry also found and and bought/restored Dave Strickler's "Old Reliable" Z/28, and he also wanted to thank Ben and Dave Wenzel and Tim Bishop for all of their support as well as Bub Whitaker at Whitaker Racing Engines who builds his engines.

So that's a quick rundown about Jerry's cars and his Camaro Hi-Performance, Inc. business. You can find plenty about him on the internet.

Crazy fast. How does a little 302 with only those changes have enough power to run in the 10's let alone pull a wheel stand???

Got to be lots of revs (courtesy of that unlimited cam duration), really deep axle gears, and a fully optimized suspension.

Outside of gm fans and camaro fans, I don't see the intro of a z28 trumping the all new mustang release. Try to think about this rationally, the mustang is finally joining the 21st century with IRS, it's going to ditch the retro design and be completely new. It's going to be a big deal in the automotive world even if the camaro nation could care less.

For s&g that would be like me saying ford bring back the Mach 1 (just pulling an old name out) is going to trump the introduction of the 6th gen camaro on a newer lighter platform with new generation v8s under the hood. Not gonna happen.

I think it would be cool to see the z return, but saying its going to be a bigger deal than a completely redesigned mustang is silly, also bc it will be on the mustang s 50th birthday

I betit will be a big deal in the camaro community. But in the general automotive world, it will not trump the all new mustang(in terms of being a big deal)

I have done business with Jerry and he is the best with 1st generation Camaros and hard to find parts. No one stands behind his work like Jerry does.
