It's not like $2K is going to be a big deal to the folks buying either of these to cars.

I would suspect an ass-whipping of the ZL1 by the GT500 on a dyno. That's not intended to be a cut on the Camaro, just based on the numbers we know at this time.

The model year may be different, but they will be hitting the streets at about the same time, so saying there is a year difference is misleading and Naive......

Not quite. One must add in the the price of the yet to be priced Track Pack to the 2013 GT500 to obtain a vehicle price for an equivalently equipped GT500 that would be appropriate to compare to a ZL1.

So in my current 2012 configuration for the 2013 it would be $62,800 (SVTPP, Electronics, Car Cover, Recaros). Doesn't make me feel too bad about paying 49k for the 2012 even though the 13 GT500 is definitely more car (HP isn't worth it to me since that is easily made back), but the brakes and suspension upgrades as well as the cool 220 mph speedo would be worth having and the different gearing I'm sure will make it a bit easier to drive.

Couple problems so far. The Ford site is missing the "Track Pack" with the extra coolers the ZL1 already comes with. We don't know how much that will add. Right now you need to spend over $60k to have a GT500 that will match a ZL1 from a feature perspective. Hope Ford likes falling behind again to the Camaro in sales.

What's wrong with the base gt500? is it slower?
Looks like some people aren't too happy with the price of the gt500 and are dying to add things to make it more expensive.

who wouldn't be happy with a base gt500 with 650 hp for 55k? lol
