I got the letter and called - they went from a free 30 day account, to 3 months - then at the end upped it to 6 months...WTH!?!?

The start was very frustrating as the call disconnected 3 times...then I had to wait, in silence, for over 15 minutes for the account to activate...

So now that I have an activated account, do I have the update? What specifically does the update do?

I just did mine yesterday. They will tell you that they are sending a signal to add the update, took about 5 mins of the their musak and silence then prompt came on stating that the update was successful. Call ended after that. If you didnt get the confirmation that the update took you need to do it again. Did they offer you the 3 to 6 months extension for free?

Yeah they offered me 6 months for free - for what reason I have no idea...weird.

He did say something about all my records were purged from their system...

Dunno!

So, you think I need to call them back and make sure I get the update???

I bought my car about two months ago, activated Onstar right away and a few weeks ago got an email saying that my account was deactivated.

Since then I have talked to them 3 or 4 times and they keep saying the issue is that they updated their system and they hope to have it resolved soon and will add 6 months free but jeeze, it has been like 3 weeks, lol

I'm thinking the 2012s have the updated stuff cause it seems none of us '12 guys have gotten a letter.

Since I upgraded my head unit this probably will not apply since the bluetooth comes off of the aftermarket radio since I do not have the factory one.
