i doubt its more then the v6 if it is its not enough to change anyones mind.
Worth the slight extra cost for sure. brakes are probably the biggest hit.

Thats how it went for us, but we live in flat coastal GA. If we still lived in the north GA mountains, they would have not lasted as long. Also, when we had the tires switched, I was able to save the two fronts, which have a good bit of life left on them. When the rears go again (and this is not from burnouts but from the rear stepping out through curves when playing), I will be putting the old fronts in their place. In other words, this tire change should only cost me two tires, but not sure how long it will last (probably about 7500 miles is my guess).
PS: I said that wrong. This tire change will only cost me a mounting and balancing of two tires, but will only last about 1/2 as long. In summary, the first set of tires that came on the car lasted 15000 miles. The second set will last about the same (15000), and then with what's left of the original fronts (which will go on the rear) and then the 2nd set of fronts, which will stay on the front, we will get an addition 7500 (estimated). Looking at it like this, every two sets of tires gets you roughly 38K miles. Last edited by gajagfan; 01-21-2015 at 10:14 AM. |

Im not to worried about moding since I will be wanting to keep my warranty. However, based on what im reading the 1LE is only good if you plan on tracking.

That could not be further from the truth. We have not had our car on the track because it does not fit into our lives at this point. We will after we can afford a replacement daily driver, but if you love cars, you will enjoy the improved handling every time you drive it. We had looked at Gen 5 Camaros before, but did not find them special enough to replace our WS-6 until the 1LE package. Great track toy? I am sure it is, and many members here offer proof. Great car to enjoy everyday....damn straight.

I'm currently getting 16.3 in my V6. I thought something was wrong but I guess we just have heavy feet lol

This is where owning any V8 Camaro is most painful, when you need brakes, clutch, or tires it hurts bad.

My bad, MODS! but seriously, car for car, v6 vs v8, if performing routine maintenance, tune ups, or if say one specific part would break on either, more than likely the v8 will always cost more. There are exceptions, but majority of the time the v8 will always be more expensive to repair, replace, and keep running. It's the price you pay, and there's really no going around it. So enjoy your cheap V6 while you can (so you can save up for some mods when you get a V8).

Either when you MOD it, or it needs replaced. Nobody can tell you how long it's gonna last but I've owned 3 v8 camaros of prior model years that all had over 100,000 miles on the stock clutch. All 3 of them were MODified. So if you maintain it and drive it right you SHOULD be able to get that out of it. Just know that any and all vehicles have some that just have problems like this that arise for no particular reason. That's all luck of the draw. You could drive it perfect and have it shatter at 200 miles.. Not something anyone can control when a part fails that's what warranties are for.

I've owned both, a 2LT/RS and now have a 2SS/RS.
Tires: definitely wore out faster on the SS. Just replaced them at 29k. Gas: Average fuel economy dropped ~1.5mpg with my SS Insurance: SS is about 30% higher than my V6 was Clutch: My clutches always last much more than 100k miles... no worries Fun Factor: SS is the big winner
