I just picked up a set of the 18" LT wheels and tires on Ebay for the winter!

I went in the parts department to check on tire prices while I was waiting on them to install stripes. They told me they were $450 a tire and also told me the perrelis was only tire fit on these rims at this moment. Was that the truth or they just not know what they were talking about?

$450 a tire = true. Only tire that will fit = false as per above posts. Dealers have a tendency to say what will make THEM money.

Currently it has 245-45-20s on the front and 275-40-20s on the rear. So any ideas what would be a logical front back combo for sizes? Would 255-50-20s be ok or the rear? I can get a set of Goodyear RS-A tires for a good price with the same size on front as now, and the 255-50s on the rear.
This is really the only all season combo that makes both sizes.

Yokohama Parada Spec-X (Street/Sport Truck All-Season)

• Front: 245/45R20
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 99V
• UTQG: Treadwear: 420
Traction: A
Temperature: A420 A A
• Price: $139.00 (each)

• Rear: 275/40R20
• Load Range: XL
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 106V
• UTQG: Treadwear: 420
Traction: A
Temperature: A420 A A
• Price: $141.00 (each)

I was told something similar but worse. They told me the Pirellis are the only tire you could use period and that using any other would totally screw up the computer.

That is the most redonkulous thing I've ever heard. Why on earth would GM make a vehicle that could only be driven 6 months a year in any climate. Why would they sell that car in regions that only get 1 hot month a year.

Who ever told you that is feeding you a line of BS.

I agree however that GM should have had the foresight to have an all season tire paired up for the Camaro from the get go. Regional dealers should be able to give the purchaser a choice of tire to put on it. The expensive Pirelli, or a cheaper Yokohama.

That's very likely true, CamaroUser. But there is some (limited) flexibility in the size tires I would think. I wouldn't think that the only tires that will fit are the same size as the ones on there now. Will the 255-50-20s fit the back in place of the 275-40-20s? Could 225 or 235-50-20s be ok on the front in place of the 245-45-20s? Just asking...to increase the choices and MAYBE lower the cost. Though the Yokohamas are actually pretty well priced.

No such thing on this earth. The only way that would be possible on any car is if there's only 1 tire manufacturer that makes that specific size.

I wouldn't mess with the width of the tire. Normally though I wouldn't mind going one size smaller in the profile of the tire (245/40 front and 275/35 rear), Michelin make Pilot sport all seasons in that size. There are 2 problems in this case though. First, here in NY you would wind up bending or cracking a rim with the pot holes and Second, the Camaro is a very heavy car. It needs that little extra sidewall on the tire for better grip, stability and to protect the rims.
