Think I'm going to be SHAFTED

Car had to go in for a RS headlight replacement, I have my short throw sitting here, so I think wth, have the dealer install, Its cold here, snow on the ground. Drop the car off in the morn, get a call around 5pm, dealers says its a big job, car wont be ready until tomorrow. Figures gf gets the call.

Im figuring 1-2 hours of lift time. But them saying "Big job" has me worried, hope there not being idiots.

I would go into the dealership and make friends with the service guys. Bring them some lunch. A little extra expense on your part makes your project their first priority.

Just make sure that the appropriate gifts are provided to your GF to pacify her for you spending $$ on your mistress.

Hurst shifter @Black10

So It took them 2 days to change a bad headlight..LOL, got down there today thinking they changed the shifter, I go take a look, its still stock. I say whats up? service guy says "GM wont allow us to change it, it will void the powertrain warranty" Which is RIDICULOUS! So I left all pissed off. I mean when they called yesterday they should of said something to me.

So many dealerships suck. I hate when I have to pay someone else to do work, so often it is not done right, if at all. These shifters are pretty easy to install yourself if you are at all handy. Did my Hurst in about 1 1/2 hours laying on my back in the driveway. Somewhere on this site is a video of shifter installation. Good luck.

why is it,if it comes from the factory with a hurst shifter it is under warranty, but if you buy one ,it is not?does not compute.makes you wonder, if you put a sticker on your car does that void the warranty ?

It takes 2 hours if you take your time. It is actually easier than you think. You just have to pay someone if you don't have the tools/time. The dealer does not need to be in the loop at all.

Hurst shifters are an option at the dealership where I bought my car. I suppose if you bought the shifter from them and they did the install it would then be under warranty.

I could do it, but I'm being impatient. All this snow on the ground, rain, I'm not getting on my back to do it.

Thats what I thought, didn't make a bit of sense to me! I just called another dealer, they said they would do it and it wouldn't affect warranty at all.

That sucks. I guess I am just lucky that my brother is a GM tech at the dealership where i bought my car. He was saying that SLP has or will have a short throw to offer. Dealer part dealer installed.
