Replacement Driveshaft and transmission options
I broke something tonight not really sure.. I was testing out launch control and got about 20 feet then felt like i hit a stump where the car lunged forward slightly which was then followed by alot of grinding noise.. Horrible.. Horrible grinding noise. :(
After the fact, I couldn't drive up even the slightest of hills, gear shifting is still smooth, no clunky feeling while revving in neutral. I'm thinking that it's my driveshaft. If it was my transmission, would the gear shifts be tougher? Instead of getting the same gm parts in case the warranty doesn't cover the cost for some loop hole of a reason.. what would my options be for tough transmissions (V8 SS Manual tranny) and driveshaft? Much later I plan on doing whatever it takes to make a 10.5s car in the 1/4 so maybe something that can handle at least 850 hp. My vin ends around 47000, it's a 2010 model SS v8 manual and has 14.1k miles on it. I already had to have the driveshaft replaced by the dealer when it was just at 5k miles because of snapped bolts.

Sounds like half shaft, if driveshaft you wouldnt even creep. Not a un common issue tho, many halfshafts have gone.

I broke my driveshaft before and could drive up to about 35mph until there was a really loud hellicopter blade noise coming from outside the car. It ended up being that my driveshaft bolts snapped and the bushings were bent and disfigured. I could at least drive when that happened. Here it just sounds like there's alot of revving, grinding (like rocks in a blender) and car movement = to turtle speed if any.

If you need a driveshaft, we have our 3.75" Carbon Fiber one piece driveshafts and if it turns out it's an axle you need then we have you covered there as well.
We have 2 variations of axles. Our 4340 1000hp axles and our 300m 1000+hp axles. We make our own axles just so ya know Give me a call if I can help you out. Thanks Chris @ Gforce |

We've never had anyone break a set of our 300m axles so these should work great for most big power guys. We also have our Outlaw series axles for the 9", they use big 33 spline axle bars that are 1.5" diameter throughout the length including the spline area. They also use larger cv joints, these are what we have for the 1500+hp guys. The Outlaw series axles require modified control arms to clear the big cv joints. I have no idea what the driveshaft shop axles are made of or how they are designed. Thanks Chris |
