Remove the intake, undo the two screws, pay attention to the direction to the filter orientation (doesn't matter when brand new), clean let the filter dry, and oil like the directions state on there kit. reassmeble with the filter facing the same way as removed. Since it takes a while for a fitler to dry after washing, having a second filter ready to go isn't a bad idea.

I spoke to a Vararam person and he mentioned to first remove it and drop the filter against the ground a few times to losen the dirt off the filter, then follow the cleaning instructions. Do it whenever you change your oil.

I agree. Bang it a couple times. You wont believe the amount of dirt. I've cleaned mine twice. (every 3K). It was super clean on the back side so the filter really does it's job.

Just pulled mine after about 5k miles. Do not wait this long, it is absolutely filthy on the dirty side.
I tapped it on a towel on the ground and it is like emptying a shop vac. Bugs, rocks, dirt, birds, squirrels, ... all kinds of crap fell out of there.

After cleaning I'll let it dry at least 24 hours then oil, let sit a few hour then make sure there are no dry spots that need oiling and make sure there isn't too much oil.

Yeah that work really good. I let mine go too long and it was really dirty.
