Brought it back to dealer again and got the'ol "They all do that". Many do, but that's doesn't mean no solution should be looked into by GM. If GM blows me off, I'll just sell the car.

Any chance you can tighten up things per the Pedders checklist on your own?

Had a friend who is ase cert tighten the strut retaining nuts with his gun. Then I went under the car and tightened all the nuts in the list. The noise was gone....I say was because it came back and I swear it's even worse now. Ugh.

Called GM customer diagnostics and they tried to tell me it was my torque converter. Really.

Then he stumbled upon the ol loose lumber bulletin and he was pretty much done with me even After i told him the car did not make this noise when new and its getting worse. Very frustrating. Perhaps my sway bar end links are bad, sounds just like that on my other cars that had that noise. I am going to disconnect them and take a drive.

That makes sense. If it doesn't resolve it...

Rob can.
Guys thanks tons. I used to do a ton of work when I ran Volvos, IPD suspensions etc. I was hoping NOT to get under my brand new DD before I wanted to upgrade something so a little pissed at my dealers service guys for blowing me off.

To celebrate Independence Day I did some more independent work. I removed the end links from the front sway bar. SILENCIO! I put back one at a time and it makes the noise whether one or both were attached, so I still don't know whether it's the bar bushings, bracket, bolted end link connection or ball/sockets on each end of the links. I tightened all best I could guddentite and added some blue Loctite for fun.

One thing I did notice is the stud on end of each end link does not fit snug in the strut side or sway bar end holes. I imagine it's possible that even super tight nuts might not prevent sliding perpendicular to the stud. Hard to guess on this stuff but don't get why GM didn't design the stud to be more like a ball joint tapered stud, again like on Volvos, which are much beefier too.

Hard to reach those bar bushing bracket bolts but I got them as snug as I could. My guess is the end links are poorly designed/fit or just cheaply made. With the end links disconnected I wailed on the bar up and down and no sounds at all and the bushings where very springy and resistant.

pull the links off and ensure that all 4 ends feel snug and smooth.

do you see any marks on the sway bar or strut where the paint is worn off from the link nuts moving up and down?

look at the studs on the links, do you see any damage to the area that goes through the sway bar or the strut?

if needed i can have a set of links to you for friday.
