not the best of days

I had signed up for another 2 day HPDE weekend in Oct. on the last session of the day while passing a Mustang on the back straight, the car "coughed" and then nothing. I pulled off of the track and waited for the session to end and for the tow vehicle to show up. (I was SO glad that I installed the tow points some time ago).
I had adjusted the shift light so that I would be shifting between 5000 to 5500 all day and there was nothing stupid/unlucky like a 3rd to 2nd money shift.
a picture of loading up at the track and then dropping in front of the house.............I was so bummed and dejected that I already pulled off the number tape from the doors

Tear down

tore it down..........the failure was a broken chain, valves are bent and the pistons got dinged up.
the cam was worn, but not part of the problem, the cam bearings looked ok, not great, but not bad enough to cause the cam to seize.

Holy crap! is this rear wheel or engine hp, either way the car is going to be a hoot to drive!! By the way enjoyed your "novel", it's what being a true car lover is all about!

thx a bunch 1fast1le

it is the engine dyno sheet. I've been breaking in the clutch an can't do a full throttle pull on the chassis dyno for a bit.
just running around at part throttle it is a blast!

front radius arm bushing inserts

installed the radius arm inserts and learned that the 1LE comes from the factory with inserts. they are smaller and made from the same (or similar) rubber as the bushing.

Camber Plates

in an effort to make the tires last a bit longer on the front, not have so much outside edge wear, I installed a set of camber plates.
they went on easy (the second one was easier than the first) and should allow me to go to max camber for track days and keep the street alignment most of the time. all without having to go to the alignment shop every time.
saving money is the goal, strange for a car mod!

thx
they were easy to install and a breeze to make adjustments at the track. turn in improved and the tire wear was not all concentrated on the outside edge. highly recommended for any DD that sees some track duty
