Not allowing thieves to determine what I drive

Hellos to my camaro family! As many of you read and expressed your condolences, my '12 2SS was stolen this past summer. I suffered through some pretty dark thoughts after the police found it stripped. However, my Camaro family offered the usual thoughtful messages and even managed to help me smile through the anger and pain. At last after several months of car shopping, I found what really appealed to me another 2012 2SS but the color of my heart and my passion...Victory Red with low miles (almost new). I am back and with a strong alarm system, photos to follow. Much love to all of you!

Well, I am glad you have another Camaro, but maybe don't get so attached to this one? Having pretty dark thoughts after a car is stolen - ummm.. seems a little too attached to a car.

I feel for ya - I'm in NorCal as well (Bay area) and had my 2013 2SS 1LE stolen out of my driveway on December 5th in the middle of the night. It was Victory Red - best color . No broken glass, no alarm to wake me up (I was 30 feet away when it happened), just crickets the next morning... It was stripped and left as a shell on some street in deep Oakland. They pulled the engine, tranny, seats, doors, ECM, OnStar, etc... They do it one of 2 ways - they hack into OnStar to remotely unlock or disarm, or as my local dealer indicated - they drill into the drivers door to unlock, then they get into the glove box to yank the OnStar system. An ECM swap with a coded VIN apparently is part of the theft as well. There's a ring of folks who have lifted dozens in the bay area in the past few months, maybe hundreds. Anyways - your story reminded me of mine - it's a crazy world out there. Glad you're in another ride

Thank you all. As for the dark thoughts, if you ever spent any time in the Oakland area, you'd appreciate my frustration. There are many good people over shadowed by a nasty, destructive, and persistent few. The theft disrupted my world in too many ways. Grateful for having great insurance though. I'm okay...

Congrats on finding what you want.... I'm shopping for an alarm so I have a little peace-of-mind when I head to the bigger cities.

The ECM swap is a reality and if GM found a fix for that then thieves would work around it.
