Thumbs up Zl1 Unique Serial Numbers Explained

Hello all, we are fortunate to have ZL1 specific and sequential serial numbers for these great cars. I was wondering if any in the group knows what the other numbers in the long number sequence mean? And what the different number and letter combinations translate into. Thanks!

Position #7 Restraint Codes

Position #8 Engine Codes
"V" for the LLT (3.8 V-6 DI VVT)

Seems like position 5 denotes "S" for Manual trans and "J" for Automatic.
And, there has to be a color code for one of the digits as well. SlickRick... we need more info! Thanks!

Thanks for the info everyone. Even with all the wait I am still happy knowing that eventually my car will get here, and it will be the greatest production muscle car on the road today.

ZL1 Serial Numbers are sequential. in positions 12-17

example ZL1 VIN.... (This is BeckyD's Car)

2G1FJ1EP9C9800415---- There are a few things that make this VIN different than any other 2012 Camaro on the line....

--FJ= 1SS/A6 (If this was a Manual it would be FS, and YES ZL1 vin's are based on 1SS model conversions)
--P= LSA Motor, the LS3 and L99 have different Engine Codes.
--8= Vin Sequence Reserved for ZL1 (on a non ZL1 coupe/vert the VIN ends C91xxxxx or C92xxxxx, on ZL1 C98xxxxx this is how Becky knows her car is ZL1 #415)

Check digits are thrown in as a way to verify that the VIN is being read correctly. They don't correspond to anything in particular about the car.
