I believe they actually match the factory specs better that way...

Michelin's are a little narrower..

Mostly it was because Tire Rack was out of 285s, but I probably would have run the 295 anyway because a little more front tire is a good thing.

I like the OEM Good Years. The PS4S's suck IMO. The side walls feel softer, and the traction isn't there. They also seem to heat up unevenly. The psi is all over the place. At night they heat evenly. I used to turn off the traction control , and get loose in the corners. With the Michelens it feels less predictable. I will be going back to F1 Supercar 3's. Screw the 300AA tread wear vs the 220AA.

Roughly 70% of the One Lap field would disagree. They’re really good tires. Best all around street tire I’ve ever had.

I am in the Goodyear over Michelin camp.

Goodyear performance tires have stiffer sidewalls, gives a much more crisp/sharper initial turn-in. I have loved the F1 Supercars from their beginning on the C5 Z06.

Michelins are known for having soft sidewalls that roll over on themselves. Since they use a softer compound on the outer edge of the tire than the middle and inner, the outer edges always run out WAY before the rest of the tire does, making them suck at cornering grip for the last 30%-40% of the tire life.

I ran the PS4s on my SS. They were quite and did seem to have a bit more traction in the rain. At the track, they were quick to give way. I had my share of problems of being able to tell where the limit of the tire was, too. The stock Good Years on the ZL1 are much more predictable and have better grip than the PS4s. For what it is worth, I don't have an issue driving them in the rain. Yes, you slow down and pay more attention. That is only prudent operation with 650HP on tap.

Anyone have any real world tire wear results for the Michelin PS4s? I got 16000 miles out of my Goodyear fronts (obviously I don't track my car).

Thanks!

This came directly from the District GM rep. It came down to cost that ZL1 went with Goodyear. Got to give credit to the GY team. Goodyear R/D Supercar 3 specifically for ZL1. I have Michelin PS4 that I just bought in my garage. They will be installed on Tuesday. The ride improvement is at the sacrifice of not having a run flat though. From the research I have done Michelin is overall a better tire. Think on the Track the Goodyear would edge out the Michelin

We will find out on Tuesday. Michelin‘s are more than GY. The most inexpensive price I was able to find was $1530 shipped from TireBuyer. They have $85 off coupon for Father’s Day + Michelin will give a $70 gift card.

Just a FYI if it matters....
If you buy Goodyears on tire rack they throw in a 2yr road hazard.

Their prices were higher than everyone else. Probably because the “Free” Road Hazard that is factored into their pricing (:

I only use tire rack. I know they are a tad higher than tire buyer. Reason being... LOL. They have a mobile installer that comes to your house so I dont have to go to a tire shop. Mobile guy has a roadmaster balance machine too!
