Dealers cannot change the parameters in the tune itself unless they have aftermarket tuning software, which is kind of a conflict of interest for them.

Once aftermarket exhaust systems have been installed, it becomes very noticeable, and down right annoying, we shut them off regularly.

Since we are the product end user, we should be given the option to pay the gas guzzler tax and have the AFM turned off by the dealer. That is just my opinion though. And besides all that, anything above 22.5 mpg doesn't get gas guzzler taxed.

Cool AFM

First off its a pain in the ass hearing it kick in and out at a 60mph cruise and if you bought a camaro for fuel efficency bad decsion. Its a preformance designed car.Thats a bullshit excuse to viod a warranty because your not doing anything to harm the motor.

What are the "enabling conditions"? Mine seems to gurgle and droan at low rpms regardless of what gear I am in. ex. 2200rpm in 3rd or 4th gear. I thought AFM was for 6th gear or "overdrive" conditions. Seems as if it turns on every time the throttle is low. Will tuning out the AFM eliminate the drone?

This is toally not true... AFM is ALWAYS active...

+1...

It is always "active", but I have noticed it more in a certain RPM range. If you are in manual mode, chances are you are just shifting out of it.

As stated before... tune that crap out ASAP. The car comes alive when you do a transmission tune.

I think you are the one that doesn't know what you are talking about..... I drove around for months using my paddle shifters to keep AFM off because of the terrible sound..... there was no doubt when AFM would kick in, and it didn't when in manual mode, maybe they didn't program all the cars this way. I'll find out right from GM and report back.... you might want to fire up youe grill for some crow... I've heard it tastes just like chicken.....
