When trading in a car, it should ALWAYS be 2 different negotiations. Before you go into a dealer, know what you want for your trade (a fair price for your used car in your area) and know what you want to pay for your new car.....and ALWAYS be prepared to walk away.

When you sit down, finalize the price of your trade in FIRST. Do not allow them to work both prices at the same time. They may even want to work on the price of your new car first. Do not discuss the new car until you get your trade in price finalized. If you can't get want you want......walk (or pretend to walk). They will stop you or call you on the phone shortly. Assuming the price you want for your trade in is fair, stick to your guns.

Once you get the price you want for your trade in, then work the price for your new car. The dealer will try and make up the extra money THEY FEEL they are giving you for your used car in the price of the new car (or in financing). Don't let them do it! Know what you want to pay and know what financing rates you can get. Again - be prepared to walk.

IMO - you should visit 2-3 dealers and work a price at each before actually buying.

I just placed an order for a new 13 2ss/Rs convertible.
I got the engine cover, short throw, dual mode exhaust and my link for 500 over actual invoice.
Came to 50,125.00
I think I did ok,
Still trying to get the black rims from a zl-1 on it though.
