Flex 3401 VRG question

So looking at the Flex it looks like it comes with a 6" backing plate, correct? They sell a changeable backing plate system has both a 4 and 6 plate (($50). then there is just a 4 plate for $30.

I like to option of having a smaller plate for small pads. So does the "system" allow for quicker changes of the plates? Or will I just end up with two 6" plates, spend more, and still have to go through the same process to switch plates?

If you have a LC kit in mind then a single allen screw is removed to go from 4" to 6".

Is that system different/easier than just buying the 4 3/8 plate and swapping between that and the stock larger backing plate? If so, it seems like it would be a good option for versatility.

It would be nice if I could still sue some of the pads I have from my 7424XP as well as some of the smaller 4" pads.

My partner just had the kit from LC. It did break a plate once but they quickly replaced it. The 3401 was also refurbished once by Flex without charge.

cool. do you know if this system actually makes it easier to swap the plates out? Or is it just the same if I use the stock plate and buy the smaller one too?

I can only speak about the 3 pc kit which made swaps easier.

Yes this kit does make it easier because you are not changing the gear mechanism. It is not a HUGE difference, but it is noticeable.
