Just learned something about all winter tires
Doing some research on new tires (either all season or winter). Talked to the manager of a local tire shop. He said that in my state, it's actually illegal to run on them year round. You can only use them for four months out of the year. Took me by surprise. Wonder what cop would be versed in that law enough to point it out on a ticket. He said it can come with a hefty fine.
Just a fun fact of the day

You may want to check into that, because last I knew that was only if they were studded.
