I did not buy it for it's racing abilities, I bought it because I liked it . . just like all the rest of my cars.

I personally bought the car because i'm in love with it. I like enjoying it, enjoying that I have it. It's mainly for me not to show at the track, which is why I won't go there too often. On the positive side mine will continue to have that new sparkle by less track time!

I bought it because I love it. However, it will be making trips to the 1/8th mile track too, after I get a catch can, cold air intake, and reservoir on there.

My 2013 is still ordered but not received, however I have no plans to race it. I further plan to keep it completely stock, with the likely exception of a catch can added in a manner that allows a return to fully stock should I wish.
That said, TPower can be a strong influence, so it just might, once or twice, see the quarter mile, but again in fully stock form.

For me, it will probably represent

status symbol
mid life crisis car (MLC2)
reward for hard work

OR maybe I just like the sound. I really like the sound. (let's go with that)

If I ever get to the point where I can purchase one (either a ZL1 or an SS), I won't be tracking mine. Not showing it either.

I just like the idea of driving it and enjoying it.

But, I don't have one yet, so I might change my mind.....doubt it though....I have never been to a track with any vehicle I've owned.

I have a 2013 Shelby G500 on order. I don't attend to race it. I am 47 years old and cannot work on cars that much due to medical issues. So, if something breaks, I am paying someone else to do my work. If you race, eventually you break stuff, therefore, you are working on the vehicle. I wanted a car that was fast out of the box and if something breaks, then I take it to the dealer to be fixed under warranty.

People will say, "Why don't you take it to the track and see what it does"? I tell them, "there are a 1000 videos online what these bone stock cars do". Plus, I got burnt out on racing a long time ago.

And I would bet a pay check that 90% of ALL ZL1s and GT500s sold NEVER see the track.

neither the zl1 nor the gt500 were built for the track. if they were, they wouldn't weigh 4000+ lbs. last i checked, track cars don't come with sound systems and sun roofs.

Im still waiting for my ZL1vert to come in. When I get it I may take it to the local dragstrip once in a while, but will not take it to a road course. In fact you may not be able to take a convertible to a road course.
