Turbo problems. please help.

So I have a turbonetics t76 with a built ls3, zr1 cam, zl1 fuel pump. 62lb injectors, 8lb wastegate spring. Using a greddy profec, even with the setting turned to 0% and/or negative gain (starting lbs varied from 5-8lbs throughout my tests) I am still experiencing a shudder/surge/flutter? when pulling through the higher rpms, especially from a higher gear like 3rd or 4th. If i stay in the throttle it'll give me a service stabilitrack light, all the traction lights come on and i get a blinking check engine light, which is random misfire. when i let out and resume driving it all blinks for about 30 seconds and goes away. Im not sure in the boost controller settings are right but i still feel that this is very unnatural. Im going to check the spark plugs in a little bit, also one of the coil pack wires on the harness had accidentally been clipped a long time ago, it was spliced back together and was never any an issue for years, but i cant help to think about it. The car has performed fine many times before this. If anyone has any info on the service lights, misfires or boost settings i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

even with the boost controller off, still hits 13lbs of boost and breaks up on the top end.

There's a section of the forum for forced induction, you might have better luck posting this in that section.

If you are hitting 13 psi with 8 # springs and the duty cycle set to 0% then you either have a bad boost controller, solenoid or boost line going to the waste gate. Check the lines to make sure they didn't touch something hot and burn a hole in them.

You have to Find out What is making your boost that high and fix it.

You don't have enough Fuel injector or Fuel pump to run 13 PSI and will break the engine.

I am sure it is leaning out to the point of Misfire.

Hopefully there is no damage.

You should not exceed 8 PSI on your Fuel pump and injectors.

Ted.

same System , Same Issue Just Started. I'm Going With Tr7ix Plugs As Recommended By My Tuner. I Don't Have A Boost Controller, And NoT Sure If My Boost Is Spiking But Can't See Why It Would. If The Plugs Don't Fix It, It'll Be Going To The Tuner For A Check Up.

Spark plugs fixed the breaking up and misfire and cel codes. Still having the boost problem. Switched the controller off and it still hit 20lbs. with the gain set at -99% it still hits 15. IM thinking theres something wrong with the wastegates but i dont know much about that stuff.

Wastegate not working or kit just can't control boost well. Make sure the wastegate is hooked up correctly. If it is, then it could be boost creep from too small of a gate or something else. Call up turbonetics and have them walk you through the install and all possible problems.

I dont imagine your car lasting long at 20lbs...how are you measuring it, I assume while driving? I am no expert in this at all, so maybe others can chime in, how long would you reasonably expect his (mine etc) set up to last under 20lbs boost? I was thinking it go boom in a hurry...maybe not?

on another note, glad your misfire is corrected, I am hoping mine will be this eve.

My first suggestion is get rid of greddy. Had the profec on my Mazda was only supposed to make 6lbs and at wot made 15 turned the controller down made 13lbs. Checked everything was the boost controller sent it back got a new one same problem. Just giving my experience might want to check out because greddy hasn't been the same since they sold out to different owners most of the products now are crap.

Try disconnecting the vacuum lines from the wastegate and see if this helps as it should be just spring pressure with no electronic variables. It is not uncommon for the solenoids in EBC's to malfunction. Feel free to email me direct at rawakim@turboneticsinc.com
