Rear Seat Back Release Help ?

2014 #89 - My rear set back never would lock in properly at the top (bought new). Figured while I installed my BK harness bar, I'd remove the rear seat back and fix it so it latches at the top and the top of the seat is flush with the rear shelf panel.
Wrong, I found the latch was secured to the top hook (part of body rear shelf) the latch bracket was bent & separated from the foam cushion.
So, because the seat would not release I had to cut the rear seatback material and pull the seat top to gain access and insert a screw driver to get the latch to release.

Does anybody know how that should release ? and where to gain access to pull /push the release mechanism.
Other Camaro's had a strap to pull to release.

New seat cushion, cover material and latch ordered.

Thanks !

Access through the trunk to get to the release mechanism, usually release it with a small screwdriver instead of essentially getting all up in the trunk to get my finger on it, it is a stretch!

Thank you, as it turned out, the latch was latched but the bracket was bent and pulled thru the foam cushion causing the gap. New parts on the way.
Could not find that info in the service manual only showed the standard Camaro with the release strap on top.

Z/28s did not get the release strap. Members here have installed one to gain the function.

Anyone have a picture of this strap install for the release?
