How so? I was told by a dealer I didn’t need to put money down. Now I found that strange so I kept checking up on them and finally the truth came out. they did not want to honor our price agreement. My take was the wanted a name to put on the order but had no plans to sell me the car. Just circumventing the preorder system for a lot car. Now the fact that this is the owners son probably means they will drive it around for a few months maybe a year till the next big thing comes along, like a new vette. This is in no way GMs fault but they need to police their dealers a little better. The misunderstanding is he trusted this dealership. I trust mine now Matt Kennedy at Garber Chevrolet but thats after having a few bad experiences with other dealers.

EDIT: Guy's I'm pretty sure Stevo's being sarcastic. No need for anger!

I imagine that you're being sarcastic (and if so, I find it funny ).

However, the truth is there will be people who pipe in and say it's not GM's fault. It's honestly not directly GM's fault but their entire system allowed for it to happen. I know that the current laws don't allow for GM to dictate certain aspects, which things they can't dictate I'm not sure (it seems like they can shut them down at will or stop sending them cars).

I get that it's not GM that you deal with at the dealership and it's not their fault that the dealer is marking up the car. Guess who the customer blames though? Both the dealer and GM. I know, some people will say you wouldn't blame Sony for Best Buy marking up the PS3, but Sony's name is not splattered everywhere and nowhere does it seem as if Best Buy is directly attached to Sony (NOTE: I know Best Buy doesn't/wouldn't). You can't say the same thing about dealerships.

Regardless, I hope you can do something about the situation.

That'd be my plan, assuming an appeal on these forums didn't create a positive result a'la OldTimer's recent experience.

Sarcasm is a fine art and it doesn't always hit everyones ear as intended.
We are all at the mercy of the dealers and always have been from the beginning...

I got it, but you have to remember that there really are some people who believe what you said is right.

I dont know how you reacted so calmly (67ss/rs) that's truly amazing! I hate that the dealers are using there own allocated customers cars and selling them in the showroom to people who didnt have to go through the whole process, like the rest of us. I agree the best thing to do is get a news crew on the spot and bash that dealer. Sorry to hear about your Camaro :( i hope you can find your car at a honest loyal dealership! Keep us posted!

Ok, here's the facts.
1.) Stevo is NOT an idiot, we just can't READ sarcasm all the time.

2.) It is NOT GM's fault that dealerships are underhanded and sneaky, though they should be able to cancel orders that are no longer in the original buyers name or at least contact the buyer to see if they have agreed to back out of the deal.

3.) Dealerships ARE underhanded and sneaky, at least to some degree so, knowing that our vision was clouded by new car smell, we should have done OUR due diligence and realized that this car, along with any NEW item (new playstation, xbox, etc) will most likely be stolen, swapped and taken from us and sold to someone else who did NOT wait in line and just has the money to walk over we poor mortals.

That everything?
